With this mail I want to thank everyone (Eyetech, Hyperion, AmigaOS developer team and all the volunteers) involved into the AmigaOne and OS4 for keeping up the good old Amiga spirit and showing us the future for Amiga. Big thanks to all of you who you spent all the years onto the Amiga and finally found a new real path for the Amiga. For me as user AmigaOne and OS4 is everything that I want to see a modern Amiga should be. Quite modern and affordable Hardware, a nice clean and fast Operating System and all the developers and 3rd party people heavily supporting it. Without you the Amiga would still be a dead thing but with all you people we are happy to look forward into a nice future. Thanks again.

Uhm, now that's just plain dumb. Show a little originality when trolling, please? Whoever posted this news item must be either 8 years old, or so socially deprived / mentally handicapped that the comeback to every insult he gets is "I know you are, but what am I?" Ooh, burn.

And it doesn't even WORK mirrored like this. You're insulting your own side, for christ's sake! For instance:

- Quite modern and affordable Hardware,

LOL!

-a nice clean and fast Operating System

*giggle*

- Without you the Amiga would still be a dead thing but with all you people we are happy to look forward into a nice future.

Hehe...

Are you joking? ;) most amiga devs are using mos.

> Without you the Amiga would still be a dead thing
ehh? mos was the thing that scared fleecy and mcewan into announcing os4..

You know... you can add any OS and correlating company name and the "thank you" bit still sounds cheesy. I thought the first one should have died on the "forum" cross in the first place... I mean, you don't go to a news site and see a "thank you" or "let me polish your knob" postings as news; it's just unheard of. Anyway, I'm going to go back to sleep and learn more about programming while the knuckleheads of all camps figure "it" out.

Wake me when something important happens.

These troll thread are not good for the comunity (i mean all these tahnks to...). C'mon grow up and chose a platfrom without salying the others. OS4, MOS or AROS.. don't flame.

But he can read that emulated mpega.library can't play mp3 in full quality on that G4 CPU.

There is no JIT emulation in the pre-release. Sure interpreted emulation is much slower, just try it with UAE and PC, you need quite fast PC if you want to play mp3 at full rate under interpreted m68k emulation.

There is a OS4 PPC native MP3 (mpega.library) library available!
GUIs etc. run fine on emulation

Hi there :)

I very seldom post on ANN, but this comment amused me :)

Surely most of the current amiga-owners have been around since the A1 was still on paper, and all of us have certainly wathced the progress the last few years... i guess that doesn't make you that specieal after all :)

Hence I find it kind of strange that you because of this claim know more about os4 than ikir - after all...Ikir has got os4-pre installed on his amigaONE :)

best regards

What ?

@19

There is no JIT emulation in the pre-release

Yes, I know, but having speed of emulated ~ 68040/25-40 MHz on modern G4 is still a joke in my mind.

you need quite fast PC if you want to play mp3 at full rate under interpreted m68k emulation

But CPU in A1 is fast.

Maybe there are other bottlenecks ? 8-)

So many people seem to expect miracles of small companies in what is a very difficult marketplace.
Rather than endlessly moaning about *what* they have achieved, people should be grateful for *what* has been achieved, indeed that anything has been achieved at all in the circumstances.
I would say what has been achieved is very impressive.
The A1 is *relatively* expensive compared to PC hardware. Thats because it has to be produced in such small quantities. Making such a comparison is unrealistic.
When compared to classic hardware the jump-up in performance is huge. These machines make a good base for a new platform.
OS4 looks *stunning* IMHO. And I'm sure it will be as much of a pleasure to work with as the classic OS. Just much faster on A1 hardware :-D...
Like Ikir says, Peace, people :-)

Atleast i'm consistent in my behaviour, online & offline, and i do every effort to actually aid the 'cause' out there on the field, and atleast i've got the decency of actually respecting the developers & designers behind MOS, the only sad fucks whom don't get my support are wankers like BBRV & the management @Ainc.
