I just wonder. Where is Amiga ? Do they still have an operating business ? Are they in bankruptcy ? Not a single news item since 16th of march when KMOS stepped in. Where are everyone ? Bill McEwen ? Fleecy ? I don´t read every single news item here but I have always followed the progress of the owners of Amiga. And what are KMOS doing ? There was an interview with the CTO some months ago when he said they would bring up a website soon I believe. Silence everywhere and only rumours about the ongoing legal processes. I don´t know. Can someone shed some lights ? /Richard S

We would have heard if Amiga Inc had gone into bankruptcy. They don't appear to be actively trading, but they could sit back and simply wait for royalty fees on the brand name to pour in.

It is a safe bet that all the main people involved have day jobs.

It would be interesting to know whether Ben Hermanns has any connection with Hyperion or AmigaOS now.

All of these people have lost any credibility they might have had. Only actual hardware you can hold in your own hand and an actual CD with an actual OS on it count. Announcements of future plans can be disregarded, or enjoyed for entertainment value.

Agree.. Let them be, they have done enough to harm Amiga name and still remaining active users with lies, deception and empty promices. Less heard from them, better.

Amiga is in the future and looking back on us. That's why we can't see them! Amiga - back in the future! LOL!

Don, does it matter what they are doing these days? I already like them better, without Hermans posting nonsense all over, without McEwen and Fleecy around, the professionalism has gone up 10 fold.

Well, Ben is still posting predictions on Amigaworld.net, and there are people believing him.

I don't think he's evil or anything, but I would not personally consider his predictions to have any value whatever.

Yes, it is an improvement to not have the representatives of Amiga Inc, Genesi, Hyperion, etc warring on the forums.

Oh, forget Amiga Inc. They were out of it since the first day of 2002. Anyone who still supports them in any way must seriously have a screw loose.

More relevant questions would be: who are KMOS, why do KMOS exist, and why did KMOS suspiciously only appear to move OS4 off the hands of Amiga Inc in the wake of the Thendic lawsuit?

If AInc screwed the community good and proper, isn't it prudent to make sure the same doesn't happen with KMOS?

I can also say that about Bill Buck. Without his crap spewing around things have become much calmer and more proffesional.

Now, finally, people that program for either AmigaOS or MorphOS have started working together.

"Amiga is in the hearts of those who believed in them."

AmigaInc is basicly at www.amiga.com.
Amiga is in the heart of the community.
AmigaOS4.0 is in beta state.

And seeing+hearing is believing in Amiga's case.

Atleast it's silent lately without all them CEO's & whatnot running rampant on the forums.

What i'm dying to know however is what happened to the lawsuit

Those who understand what is evolving in regards to computer use and OS development won't have much concern for proprietary systems, especially if such systems have not a foothold in the market already.

It is time to start thinking in terms of how to do it better than Windows, which Linux and FOSS in general have done or are doing, and then of course how to do it better than these Linux and Uni* type solutions.

I think the next step in "doing it better" is that of simplifying use, or removing complexity that the user really need not have to deal with. Linux has alot of overhead that a single user system need not have. And considering OSs are moving in teh direction of "Live" media....

The Amiga computer concepts might be such a direction, but the proprietary flavor has most certainly proven to be a failure, even in just emulation (Amithlon).

Of course there is always the getting there from another direction, such as simplification in the freeBSD line as found in DragonlyBSD... So perhaps even associations to the "Amiga" name even in the since of "Amiga like" may not apply in what eventually happens.

And that is something to perhaps be determined by... the sum of the so called Amiga community (includng the anti-amiga amiga part) as to how well support is given to that which has the best chance of influencing what eventually happens.
