The problem, according to the original poster, is that people are paying big bux for games now, but didn't back when it would have mattered more....On the other hand, if loads of people had bought this game back then, so it would be really common now, then it wouldn't be going for much on eBay, so this thread wouldn't even exist....

Loads of people DID buy Maniac Mansion. LucasArts were one of the *LAST*
companies to drop the Amiga (they were porting X-Wing vs. Tie-Fighter and
never completed it..)
The reason Amiga games like this sell for so much is because it's rare to find
one in such good condition - look at the pic, and there is barely a frayed edge
on the box! Plus if it works and has the codewheel (nearly always lost..) then
it is truly an exceptional find.
I myself have plenty of original games I could sell on eBay but they are in so
unacceptable a condition (torn boxes, no manuals, indeterminate floppy quality)
that they would certainly NOT garner $7 each, let alone $70.
