Only G4 systems. It seems the major order was for G4s - because that is a Motorola CPU? :) The more the better however :)

You'll get your Pegasos when there are Pegasos spare for you to get.

While Freescale (and now AMIGA RESELLERS!) are ordering them, we're making
them to order. There are none spare after each run to just give to people.
That, and we can't really afford to be giving you £300 worth of Pegasos for
free.

What's more important to you, getting a free machine that we'd have to go
bankrupt for providing, or waiting a LITTLE longer while we produce hundreds
of machines for a large semiconductor partner and get paid for it?

While you produce hundreds? I thought you needed 20,000 a month just to strike even.

Its almost freaky, if you changed the name, and the time, we could have said that kinda crap would come from many a previous scumbag. Say, we you not the people who went to great lengths to highlight others failings in this area. Hypocrits.

Huh, didn't Amiga Inc. get chastised over and over for breaking a promise of giving out stupid free T-Shirts? Hypocrisy indeed.

Why make a promise to someone and then bash them in the forums when you're the one not living up to you end? Rude...

It's not rude.

Patience is a virtue, or did you forget that?

Amiga took your money - $50 of it for some newsletter and a t-shirt - and
they never provided the t-shirt, and the prize draw turned out to be illegal!

How does that equate to a promise to give demosceners free boards (some ON
LOAN) for creating demos and winning demoparties, and not having the resources
at the present time to fulfil it?

Just like everyone who has been promised a Pegasos because of something, you
will get it when there are some available in a put-aside lot of boards. At the
present time there is no such put-aside lot of boards, every single one has to
go to a paying customer because that's how business works when you're short on
cash.

WAIT.. just a little longer. That's all I ask. I may be rude by calling you
all impatient, but it is not rude to ask you to bear with us while we ride this
out.

Yeah, you mean Freescale (aka Motorola)

I'm SUUUUURRREEE they have long term goals of buying PPC boards from Genesi.

I'm sure if they ever have any real interest in an open PPC motherboard they'll build it themselves for 1/5 the cost Genesi could ever dream of, or contract with some huge MB manufacturer in Tawain, not with a couple of guys building motherboards one at a time, on 'First Come First Served' basis, out in a shed somewhere being bundled by people that drool all over the boards.

The $50 bucks has nothing to with it, that's how I 'equate' it.

Some were promised a 'free' T-Shirt. Some were promised a 'free' PEG motherboard. The blue chastised the Amiga Inc for stupid T-Shirts, is all I'm saying, and now they're lushing on motheboards. It just makes them look incompitent and like a bunch of hypocrits is all.. no offence intended of course.

2. There is NO WAY Genesi could ever compete in price with ANY another larger MB manufacturer out there.

Where are all those settop boxes that some "Mysterious" company ordered 5000 PEG motheboards for that were to be delivered by 12/31/03?

T-Shirts were bought, and never delivered. Peg boards were only promised - and they still are - as a gift, or as a loan. Since when you are entitled to a gift? Can you expect them to go bankrupt giving free boards away, instead of selling them? Free boards, they say, will come as promised... when there will be free boards to hand out.

Genesi gave out 147 (IIRC) pre-April motherboads for free + t-shirt. That other company could not deliver cheap t-shirts even. They delivered (now seemingly abandonded) e-magazine. But no, this community are just proud if they were cheated by an Amiga company. No doubt, Genesi have done mistakes but at least it seems they have resolved those now. I don't know if there are employees missing their pay checks (still) but Genesi have improved lot in last 3 months. And maybe few coders are missing their free Peg board. It is shame if they were _promised_ to get free Peg, but OTOH, it is just minor issue.

Freescale are ordering boards in the long term. You're going to have so much
egg on your face in the coming months, I can guarantee it.

There is a Pegasos in nearly every Freescale office on the planet. Freescale
are giving them away to their customers to encourage them to develop for G4
and AltiVec. They are training their employees with our help, and we are
involved in pilot schemes in order to prove out the worth of the Pegasos and
ODW under many real-life environments.

Just watch and learn.. this is how you get a product into a large market.
Duping a bewildered customer-base with holiday prize draws and the promise of a
$2 t-shirt this is not!

There is a list of people who were promised a Pegasos board for demoscene
activity, and as soon as it's possible to fulfil that, they will get them!
That's the stark honest truth, there is no deadline or "maybe next week"
because I cannot be sure. We just started to sell Pegasos boards to Amiga
resellers again, because now we are starting to have the capacity (money-wise)
to build boards over and above the Freescale orders - the resellers really
wanted it, so we gave it to them.

Note that Freescale aren't able to produce boards at 1/5th of the cost; not
without the 4 years of development you usually put into these things. They could start now and they'd be finished about the time we finish the Pegasos 6!

They designed the Sandpoint and the PCI Mezzanine, and that product is going
out of the window now because it's old and boring (no modern peripherals..). It
also costs $4500 for half of what what we offer in a Pegasos for, what, $1400
configured?

Cost reduction is a future goal; mass production is a future goal. We can get
people to make them in batches of 300,000 if we can afford to stump up the
cash for the parts and production cost in advance, at which point a Pegasos
becomes truly throw-away in terms of price :)

Since this thread somehow took turn towards the demoscene, I think I'm obligated to have some words aswell.

Yes. The boards were promised, three were delivered. That is better than nothing, but still it's not what was promised (BTW, the original plan was about used Pegasos1(!) stuff, not brand new Pegasos2-mobo. This was a nice surprise from Genesi). Anyway you look at it, it's a whole lot more than any of the zero t-shirts that were delivered.

Yes. They were promised long time ago, only to be pushed more and more in past months. This is unfortunate, and a bit more open attitude and explanation would have been in place. I got stuck in the middle answering questions from the demosceners and fishing answers from Genesi. Naturally I understand that there's not always private time for some drunkard scener, but still.

No. Genesi is not entitled to honor this if they don't want to. Things change, priorities change. Business is business. I hold no grudge.

But I have to add one thing.. Pegasos has been shown in television a couple times.. in various shows in many occasions. In _ALL_ these occations demos were shown. The commercial value of (hopefully/maybe) forthcoming MorphOS-demos is nothing to be taken lightly for.

I really hope the rest of the boards will be delivered someday... I'm just worried about how enthuastic those people will be after so long wait. Nothing lasts forever, you know.

But, Vesalia are not 'WE' are they. Either you are part of Genesi or you are not, and if you are not you've been caught bullshitting yet again, and if YOU are, then while you run a nice little sideline, earning no doubt a nice little earner, people have lost their jobs, people who were made promises have been shafted, and here's the cinch, You have butchered people here and elsewhere (hey whats new) when in fact you've been lying through your teeth (hey whats new).

You're a class act Neko. You've probably taken salary/ gifts in kind when others have been canned. You taken machines while others have been told there are none, and you've shafted both the above and anyone else on any forum you can find, who are not quite as 'fortunate' as you. Your ****** because YET again, you've been caught out. Its the simplest lies that get you in the most trouble. You do have machines, you just clear out lied.

Neko,I hope you're right. I hope I do have egg on my face and that they do succed.

The problem is why should anyone believe this as oppose the Set Top box deal, or as opposed to Bill Buck "owning' Amiga OS 4 and how he was going to give Hyperion a good deal to keep developing... etc etc..

Well Hyperion are a bunch of lying fuckers (OS4 in 2001, nearly ready in 2002) Amiga Inc are a bunch of theives (now rebadged as KMOS), Genesi is a laughing stock with wanker speakers (Neko, Hooligan etc) but despite their bullshit they are not as bad as Hyperion/Amiga inc.

If you had any idea at all you'd realise that I don't belong to either camp. I am not Red or Blue as they are called. What I do is rip the living **** out of rip off merchants and liars, and mainly due to past events and questionable acts quite rightly highlighted against Amiga Inc, another bunch of rip offs, The chickens have well and trully come home to roost in terms of Genesi.

Allowing Neko to speak on Forums is a disaster. Its Neko, Minister of information.
