All companies in this community are run by liars, i still wonder how the fuck they get customers after they screw people.

No company in this community is worthy of our custom. only the fucking die hard obsessed loosers will give shit their custom (especially the ones that claim to have cancer, when they dont - yes DaveP i mean YOU) . i would rather burn money that give it to those crooked bastards.

I think it's abit early to say, if the PPC market blooms, they might licence the board, or make their own, it depends on the cost/benefit relationship.

I want a reference to where BBRV says they own AmigaOS4, otherwise I call BS and Shenanigans on you.

Note...I am fully prepared to apologize if you prove me wrong and I just missed it in all the 'excitement.'

Everything else you posted in this thread is utter crap, so I'm kind of biased against you already.

This move and the production problems (cashflow) Genesi are having was actually announce, by Genesi months ago! There is no meaningful comparison with Amiga Inc unless you take it up to the 50,000 foot level.

AdmV,

is there any chance you could keep your peronsal vendatta against Neko confined to Moobunny? Gawd knows, it's bad enough there....

1. Matt is an employee of Genesi
What this means, I have no idea...except that it can't be easy (employees and ex-employees not being paid all around you....)

2. Matt is a re-seller of Pegasos boards
In order to make some money of a product he believes in. Conflict of interest? Hardly! If I had the cash, I'd be buying Pegasos boards and selling them, since demand has always outstripped supply (for painfully obvious reasons.)

I don't give a shit if blade 'plans' are nothing but a napkin sketch and a future dream...it doesn't have any reflection on todays reality of Pegasos board availability (ya know, what the thread was about.)

Everyone knows Genesi is having problems, it's all over the forums and was announced by the boss 'fer pitys sake!

"Freescale are ordering boards in the long term. You're going to have so much
egg on your face in the coming months, I can guarantee it."

Well good for you guys, i'd say, i hope you're right, in this industry things tend to change rapidly, hopefully you'll be able to hang in there

"There is a Pegasos in nearly every Freescale office on the planet. Freescale
are giving them away to their customers to encourage them to develop for G4
and AltiVec. They are training their employees with our help, and we are
involved in pilot schemes in order to prove out the worth of the Pegasos and
ODW under many real-life environments."

This is marketing hype, sorry, and it's irrelevant, let your results speak for you, not the marketing devision

"Just watch and learn.. this is how you get a product into a large market.
Duping a bewildered customer-base with holiday prize draws and the promise of a
$2 t-shirt this is not!"

Well, it's not like you guys didn't mess up neighter, this isn't going to help your case, stop comparing yourselves to Ainc

"There is a list of people who were promised a Pegasos board for demoscene
activity, and as soon as it's possible to fulfil that, they will get them!
That's the stark honest truth, there is no deadline or "maybe next week"
because I cannot be sure. We just started to sell Pegasos boards to Amiga
resellers again, because now we are starting to have the capacity (money-wise)
to build boards over and above the Freescale orders - the resellers really
wanted it, so we gave it to them."

Erm, no, you selled it to them :P

"Note that Freescale aren't able to produce boards at 1/5th of the cost; not
without the 4 years of development you usually put into these things. They could start now and they'd be finished about the time we finish the Pegasos 6!"

Highly unlikely, given the size of their R&D department they could probably have a board design up in less then a month, the question isn't about their capacity, it's about cost/benefits, aslong is it's less costly for them to buy the boards, they will buy them

"They designed the Sandpoint and the PCI Mezzanine, and that product is going
out of the window now because it's old and boring (no modern peripherals..). It
also costs $4500 for half of what what we offer in a Pegasos for, what, $1400
configured?"

Those designs are unfamiliar to me, got any links?

"Cost reduction is a future goal; mass production is a future goal. We can get
people to make them in batches of 300,000 if we can afford to stump up the
cash for the parts and production cost in advance, at which point a Pegasos
becomes truly throw-away in terms of price :)"

True, the same goes for freescale, the bigger the production, the cheaper

Well...obviously I missed it.

I did see the thread on a (poorly motivated) IP grab, based on a tenuous claim that AmigaOS/DE were intended to be one and the same thing in the future. I saw that court documents were filed to try and support this claim...I am not aware that this part of the case is resolved yet. (Since I am no fan of litigation, the result could have been out for some time...)

I saw that a question was asked, both privately and on the forums, what would happen (theoretically) in the event that Genesi did secure the rights to the AmigaOS but did not see the answer....

Now it's not black and white but the above stuff sounds a little different from the scenario you tried to paint.

Steve

PS Out of curiousity, who are you? A 'burnt' ex Amiga employee...a 'burnt' ex Genesi/Thendic employee or just someone like the rest of us, poor users racking over entrails and ashes? ;-)

But the lawsuit in question was the AmigaDE port to Thendic devices. There was talk of a knockout punch and the IP grab filing....see my other post to Agima.

I'm too lazy to research, so maybe I'll just concede that it's highly likely there was 'bluster' about Genesi winning the follow in 'IP grab' court case, but I don't think a ruling has been made on that yet?

The thing was that Bill Buck was counting his chickens before they hatched. He was spreading around cr@p about how 'now that he had' Amiga OS he was willing to let Hyperion do this or that. Anyway, as always he was full of cr2p. I'm to lazy to go looking for posts. There are plenty of people Blue and Red that know what he was doing and know he was indeed saying and acting like AmigaOS 4.0 was his at that point.

The thing is he knows damn well that the contract he signed is for AMIGA DE only. But he manipultes WHOM and WHATEVER he can to try to get a hold of Amiga OS.

The thing is he says Amiga DE wasn't ported to the PEG, but infact he obviously knows that HE has never provided the Hardware to Amiga INC.

Regardless of if Amiga INC. could port Amiga DE to the PEG, the fact is that HE knows DAMN well that it is impossible to if he doesn't even give them the hardware to port it to. So how the H#ll can he be so pompus enough to even start a law suit?

And as for me... I'm just someone that is amazed at how people still listen to Bill Buck. It really is strange that people don't laugh at anything he says anymore.

What I mean by that part is looking at it from a moral stand point. Not give them even one board, but then turn around and accuse them of not fullfilling their end of the aggreement? It doesn't even make sense. He such a j@ck@ass. How can people listen to this guy?

Because they are smart enough to filter out the obvious BS from the reality?

Some are even smart enough to realize that the tactics being played out here aren't so different from what goes on outside our community (i.e. in real, big business) and that we are not 'special'.

Some are even curious enough to ask follow up questions...and sometimes get answers ;-)

Some are even brave enough to call BS when they see it...wherever it comes from.

Whatever the case, BBRV were certainly smart enough to withdraw from places like this because of the "damned if you do, damned if you don't" attiude. FWIW AInc pretty much did the same i.e. got the hell out of pointless bickering forums.

What does any of this have to do with my darned news item? :-/

I figure you;d already had your answers about the blades etc. I think we know the truth their. The answers are out there regarding BSD also..I don't care to repeat here.

I just think you saw this as an opportunity to continue harrasing Matt based purely on your personal vendatta and nothing to do with the subject matter at hand. You already had an answer from one of the demoscene coders regarding free boards for the scene. You already have a satisfactory answer regarding why there are (currently) no more free boards.

So far as I can tell, Matt's only current source of income (Genesi related) is the mark-up he makes on selling Peg boards.

I don't know Matt personally very well, I have met him only once..witnessed his disastrous Amiwest presentation and seen some of his more 'choice' comments in the forums and have occasionally accused him of being immature...what I see recently is that his behaviour is changing, becoming more mature...realising that what he says might have an impact larger than the range of the sound of his own voice.

This final point brings into focus the behaviour of all parties concerned in the forums (fora?)...wisely, company CEOs, COOs, lawyers, whatever have stopped taking part in these 'debates' realising fully that there can really be no winners and a good number of people here are waiting for them to trip (or deliberately seeking to trip them up) just for self gratification or a mis-placed sense of 'justice.'

Steve

P.S. And for all you conspiracy theorists out there, I am not, never have been and never will be on the Genesi payroll and I do not get private messages from 'the powers that be' to go out and 'defend the cause.'

I guess ignorance really is bliss.

Actually you are not right, and that's why people are arguing with you. The court ruled that Amiga, Inc. must provide the AmigaDE port for the Pegasos. The documents filed by Amiga, Inc., Garry Hare, et al *after* the ruling are in response to Genesi's request to expand the ruling to cover Amiga OS, which was denied, and in reference to other Genesi statements *after* the ruling. Amiga, Inc.'s March 19 statement, in fact, says: "Amiga does not dispute that the License Agreement conferred limited rights to Thendic to use AmigaDE and 'Updates' and 'Upgrades' to AmigaDE." If you are a lawyer with experience in this area, feel free to give your opinion. Otherwise, it looks like the court ruling is the final word.

Obviously you haven't read the actual arguments made to the court. Feel free to quote the lies. Oh, yeah, you can't be bothered when "everybody knows" already. Anyway, someone who actually does read the documents might not agree with Genesi's reasoning, but there are no *lies* presented that I can see.

Bill Buck said they already recieved money for them... I can do a tedious search of Ann I suppose if you want, but BB had said they had already used some of the money given to them from the SetTop box "partner" for other things, but that the Set Top boxes would be delivered. So did he shaft the Set Top box partner or was there NEVER a Set Top box partner to begin with and it was all lies?

Do you have a clue about how business is done? It seems Genesi was contracted to provide settop boxes and got an upfront partial payment. The customer later canceled the project, no settop boxes are delivered. (BTW, there was in fact a partner -- Plexuscom; they exhibited together at at least one show.) So were are the lies? Well, enoug time wasted on this.
