In this link that points to morphzone.org you'll see that any news about MOS is only official and/or real if it comes from the official prepresentives. (Ralph Schmidt, Frank Mariak and David Gerber)

However, in this thread BBRV is claiming (together with Neko in the comments) that tey have found a reseller for MOS.

There is also this thread posted in an earlier item by me that further questions that deal.

My question is, does *anyone* have an idea of what is going on?

I don't intend this thread to accumulate flamebait, so i've refrained to post any personal "interpration" of these threads & newsitems, but it seems like the left hand has no clue as to what the right hand is doing anymore.

Same old story... Big announcement, but we need to wait for the real deal... Genesi, Amiga.. No differences..

No difference except Genesi delivered software and hardware, and have followed up on every promotion, and aren't totally bankrupt so they have to eat out of dumpsters, etc.

Tho I am better informed about Aincs track record, I'm sure both sides have their successes and mishaps with these kind of announcements. Both sides should keep their press releases behind close doors until the "big new partner" gives the green light..

Now if these reseller backs put it will look bad on Genesi, just like Amiga with for instance the nokia deal..

All I'm saying; if you're under NDA why give stupid hints about something that's just around the corner...

My question is, does *anyone* have an idea of what is going on?

If anyone is curious or confused, they should just read the threads and come to their own conclusions. Although I don't know the details on the reseller deal, in general things aren't in chaos the way you make it sound. In fact there's no connection between bbrv's statement and the MOS core developer's statement; theirs is about MOS development progress, etc. bbrv's is about sales and marketing. A few individuals seem to have gotten panicky for some reason (too much coffee?), but I don't think there's a valid basis for that reaction.

I don't see any statement by BBRV or Neko that there has been any
contract to resell MorphOS. They are just saying, as I read it anyway,
that they have found a possible reseller. If the deal is actually
made, I assume we will see a press release from the MorphOS team about
it. So I don't see any difference here, except BBRV talk very much
(perhaps too much) and the MOS team talk very little (perhaps too
little).

Core OS4 developers and OS4 beta testers alike should refrain from making these kinds of comments.

Thankyou and have a nice day! :)

Most probably the MorphOS 1.5 only in more than a year, and the public shock this caused made the MorphOS team to make that statement. I think there lies the original problem, not in the reseller issue - and it's crystal clear that they're trying to avoid the Ask Fleecy phaenomenon.

It is my belief, but I could be wrong, that the MorphOS team made that statement to make it clear that they, and only they decide what happens in regard to MorphOS.

And I think they have done that for one of two reasons..

a. They did not like or Enjoy BBRV making that 'announcement'/'statement' and you can add any crap Neko added to that.
b. They are working with neko/bbrv and will announce changes later in regard to this reseller/oem deal

I do not know the MorphOS team at all well, but from what I know of the people, I will plump for a. as being the reason. Time will tell.

While Genesi was willing to help back and support MorphOS it was a symbiotic relationship. But if Genesi are now making business decisions in terms of raising capital, and intend to use MorphOS to do so, thats going to create some friction..especially on an x86 emulation route

Just my tuppence

Yes, but anyone who has followed BBRV's posts for a year or two will
realise that such an "agreement" should be read more like "they are
interested" than "we have signed the contract".

Major milestone, all capitals ... if that should be understood to mean "they are giving it a thought" ... then ...

> "we have signed a contract"

.. really means "we did but they didnt, and told us to get lost".

One might note the almost complete silence since the MorphOS team made the post simply stating that anything publicised regarding MorphOS comes through them, and not the, erm, dubious sources we know and love.

Not all well in camp Genesi, .... just waiting for the fall out

Are you not able to read then?

'PearPC

While we acknowledge that PearPC is a very interesting project, we currently
have to focus on other more important things for our own project, and we do not
have the resources to actively support MorphOS on PearPC.'

So how does this square away with 'We have found a large IT reseller for MOS'.

You tell me, I am very interested in whatever fantasy you wish to now try and create. Any reseller would want active support from that team of people.
