Amigaworld.net is currently down due to hard drive failure.

Everything possible is being done to return the site to normal, however we are unable to give an ETA at this time. In the meantime, the Amigaworld IRC network continues to function via the remaining US and European Amigaworld Servers

They are:-
UK.Amigaworld.Net
US2.Amigaworld.Net
NO.Amigaworld.Net

Updates will continue to be posted here as and when we know.

A new thread about G3 faster then G4 has been started. Perhaps you wish to particpate. Lets say a semi regular invited you.

On the contrary, history often repeats itself. The OS4/MOS situation is inextricably linked to all those PUP/WOS, CGX/P96, MUI/ReAction flamewars. Same people, same sides. Same weaknesses. This blue vs red schism began long before MOS or OS4 ever existed.

Pity. But I'm sure the ban can be lifted. Tho I do think it would be best that you mailed them yourself and ask them, and I can also understand that you may not want to. Your choice tho, but this bitching has to end somewhere, why not offer the peacepipe yourself.

Spare me your sanctimonious bleating, Ian. Despite the fact that probably you'll think I'm the bad guy here, YOU are the one who has posted anonymously to attack people (such as smithy), YOU are the one that had trolled using an alternative nick. I've never done either. I think if the whole of your site had your moral fibre there would be no hope for it, but lucky it's probably a matter of removing certain moderators from positions of power they are obviously too immature to fill. While they're still there, I wouldn't wouldn't give them the satisfaction of asking for a reversal of the ban. Its much more fun to track people like you down and give them a roasting.

"What way that in your opinion is the "correct" way to operate the product is irrelevant and your opinion is definitly NOT a fact."

If you had paid attention you would have noticed that I made no such claim.

..there's nothing "wrong" with disabling cache coherency, it just means you'll have to waste time manually flushing caches all the time, even when it might not have been necessary, does this sound optimal to you?

>(not counting Altivec, which is mostly irrelevant for the Amiga scene at this point, which you well know). This isn't an opinion; go look at some benchmarks.

In the very first Amiga games the (at their time) nice Amiga custom chips were mostly irrelevant becouse many games were quite straight ports from the other platforms, and generally programmers didn't (yet) know how to use their full potential. (Of course that did change in the future, as we all know)

So, would (classic) Amiga have been better without the custom chips? Just becouse the first Amiga games didn't use hardwares full potential?

There's one thing that would make (and keep) Altivec support irrelevant - don't release hardware that supports it. (Sure some old Teron/A1 DO have G4, but are they still available / will they be in the future?)

That post says it all really.

Thanks, Mikey_C, for applying aw.net's high standards on your posts, so that threads don't degenerate to mindless name-calling and flamewars.

Bleating sheep = "constructive."
Disagreement = "idiots," "trolls," "MOS advocates."

/AOS4 fan (and not a "hate everything else" cultist), but ashamed of indirectly being associated with people like you against my will.

I see, so as soon as it comes to the point where you may have to admit you're wrong, and/or apologise (or at least come up with some evidence) - you just go back to the same old same old that I've explained away or apologised for, many times before. Besides which, me and smithy get on reasonably well in IRC nowadays.

I think if the whole of your site had your moral fibre there would be no hope for it, but lucky it's probably a matter of removing certain moderators from positions of power they are obviously too immature to fill. How many times?! It's not MY site - I don't own it, I don't moderate it; I'm just a visitor like anyone else.

Its much more fun to track people like you down and give them a roasting.

Always nice to get Mr. "I don't allow personal comments but since you have a low IQ I'll let it go this time" to show his true colours, isn't it? :) With one unguarded comment he can launch more FUD against AWN than I ever could. Thanks Mikey! It helps me show everyone just what you are - a hypocritical, intolerant, small minded oaf who's just as bad as any troll here - except with power to carry that idiot fanaticism to new levels. Is it any wonder AWN gets dog's abuse whenever it's mentioned when people like MikeyC and Ian "Big Red Troll" S aboard? Well, is it?
