Yes, we're proffesional company. We're going to save Amiga for The World. Yet, as a IT company, we couldn't handle our domain. Amiga curse? ;)

Has it occurred to you that they haven't had a web site perhaps because they haven't needed one?

And does it also occur that now that KMOS own Amiga, Inc. they now have even less need of a web site - and that's why the domain has been allowed to expire?

Sounds to me like your grasping at straws. Even if KMOS didn't have an immediate need for a web site, they should keep the domain for future use and to keep it out of the hands of others. Wouldn't you? This is, of course, *if* the KMOS name and corporate identity have any value at all. I don't think buying Amiga, Inc. has any direct relevance. Garry Hare made it clear that KMOS and Amiga, Inc. have separate product lines, markets, and so on, so Amiga's having its own web site shouldn't affect KMOS one way or the other.

Of course there may be a great logic underlying everything KMOS has done so far, yet to be revealed. So I wouldn't want to jump to conclusions that they are inept or dishonest. ;-)

Is Garry Hare CEO of Amiga Inc now? Since KMOS exists no more... Maybe Hare ran out of money and could not renew his domain. Now this AmigaOne disaster... Market shrinking... we are dead !!!!

I have no need to grasp at straws. I was merely stating a possible reason.

I would. Yes.

But just because the KMOS domain has expired, it doesn't mean that KMOS has disappeared or that the sun is about to implode.

Stop it, Gary. That's far too reasonable a comment to be posted on ANN. ;-)

To add to the questions, according to State of Delaware records, KMOS, Inc. was incorporated on Oct. 7, 2003. The KMOS.COM domain was registered on Sept. 29, 2000. So either somebody registered the domain far in advance of incorporating the company, or this domain belongs/belonged to somebody other than the KMOS we know. Was it ever shown that kmos.com was "our" KMOS's domain? I heard about emails sent to info@kmos.com bouncing from the Amiga server, but this could have just been an urban legend.

Well, here's an answer to that: Garry Hare says in his interview, "Since the emergency launch of Information@KMOS.com , we've received thousands of hits." So apparently the domain is|was his (assuming the truthfulness of the interview statement).

I can't fault your reasoning there. Is it possible that the KMOS domain changed hands at some point - say, if "our" KMOS bought it from the previous owners? Would the domain have to have been renewed then?

Took about 45 seconds to find out, not conclusively but to at least get Garry Hare's statement that it is his company's domain. Isn't Google great?

Yep.. apparently it looks like name registration was not paid up and the hosting company has taken it as an collateral.

Anyhow.. IMHO quite strange.. Usually (on those hostin companies I know) one has to give valid CC for even getting the registration. Would not be too good if that CC account was now empty/closed.

A 24 hour telephone order taking service approached by storeshop.com did not return two calls.

Another, dealing with management, was like talking to a telephone wind up call though the operators seemed good.

You learn to sense subtle warnings and clues.

It`s human to ignore or dismiss them then realise with hindsight.

They've still got 38 days to renew the domain name, and no-one else can register it anew for 75 days anyway.

For all we know the domain renewal reminder didn't get through, or the domain renewal order has yet to be processed by the registrar.

Sheesh, look at the FUD.

The domain name has not been renewed, the 40 day "renewal grace period" shows up in Verisign's whois as a year's renewal, which is removed if no real renewal is made. The true expiration date is at the bottom of the whois output from the registrar for the domain name.

There's no "collateral" or anything.

You have to give a CC number when ordering a domain name ... because it costs money. Do you seriously expect that 4 years later the same CC number would be valid.

Sheesh. Plain and simple FUD.

Not sure why you think Verisign's information is pertinent, graham; here's what the domain registrar has :

WhoIs Results for kmos.com

This name has EXPIRED, the former whois information is:

Contact Type Administrative
Organization Name: -
First Name: John
Last Name: Grzymala
etc.

Other Information
registration-expiration-date:
registrar: enom
created-date:
updated-date:
status:

created-by: mbit
nameserver: DNS1.NAME-SERVICES.COM
DNS2.NAME-SERVICES.COM
DNS3.NAME-SERVICES.COM
DNS4.NAME-SERVICES.COM
DNS5.NAME-SERVICES.COM

registrar-transfer-date: 2003-03-05 13:23:43.0

Can't see anything about a "grace period". However, the registrar does show "kmos.com is not available", so looks like there is something like a grace period in operation at the moment, though that is probably automatic and if anything, just confirms that KMOS Inc. haven't done anything about the expiration yet.

See what happens when you don't pay your Web "master"?

I work in domain name services, I know what I'm talking about. Don't bother arguing. All top level domain names have a 35 to 40 day renewal grace period after the expiration date that is run by the registrar (e.g., OpenSRS, NetSol, ENOM). After this, the central registry (.com, .net: Verisign for example) will have a 30 day Redemption Period during which the owner can still get the domain name back, for $80 to Verisign. After that there is a 5 day Pending Delete status. After that, the domain name is available to register.

Well not yet as the domain name hasn't been renewed.

My point is that it is too early to state that KMOS have lost the domain name, they've got around another 68 days, 40 days to renew cheaply, 30 days to recover the domain name from Verisign for more money.

Edit: They've renewed the domain name:

It doesn't say that in the whois for the domain, which still reads "John Grzymala" for some reason (if you do a whois -h whois.enom.com kmos.com anyway)

If KMOS or A.Inc. actually own the domain name, then they really should update the whois, simply to look more professional.
