http://www.amiga-news.de/de/news/AN-2004-10-00131-DE.html for an english translation: "due to absolutely unsatisfactory co-operation on the part of Genesi and disregard of a contract within one period from now meanwhile scarcely 16 months, it is to be supported us unfortunately not possible the Pegasos and thus particularly MorphOS regarding an adapted version from AmiATLAS to.

This applies accordingly also to all other projects e.g. OctaMed Soundstudio or XiPaint. Our emphasis will be thus logically AmigaOne and/or AmigaOS4. We regret it, however the past process does not lie in our hand. Nevertheless all MorphOS Usern for the future much fun with the system!

AmiATLAS development team, Gerd frank

KMOS paid him to work on OS4 projects only! Eyetech gave him a FREE AmigaTeron. Hyperion gave him a FREE OS4 kit.

> Frank was promised Pegasos in November 2002, in july 2003 he still hadnt got
> it, and now that we are turning to 2005 he decided that he has had enough?

According to his post he has apparently been waiting for a free Peg (or something) during the last 16 months, and while that fact of course is sad, there is this same old explanation as always to this - the sudden cash-flow shortage due to the Pretory crisis. I believe Genesi found themselves in a situation where they had to choke as many costs as possible, especially those who didn't lead to a direct revenue in return. Priorities had to be made. This was discussed in the context of the Pegasos 2 upgrade programme too, which temporarily was put on hold last spring due to the very same circumstances. Genesi could only produce that many Pegasos motherboards at that time, and they had to prioritize those who paid money for them. If they would have continued to give away systems to the left and right for free at that time, they would have done that at their own peril. That was simply out of the question, and I think that is absolutely understandable. But it's sad to see Frank making this decision now, after the major part of these dark months is already over and things seems to be looking kind of bright again. A few people with "phreeboards" who bought Pegasos II's has passed on their old Peg1's to other developers for free, and Freescale is giving away more than one hundred free systems in three batches, in an offer that was open to *any* PPC developer, even OS4 ones. But no-one seem to have remembered Franks name in any of these occasions. Perhaps he wasn't visible enough on the radar screens, perhaps he simply fell between two chairs or something, I don't know. I can't say I blame him for his decision, and I can't say I blame Genesi either, because I can't see how they could have done it differently because of the situation they were in. It has just been a quite unfortunate situation. Ah, well ...

In reply to Comment 51 (takemehomegrandma):
And while he say he has been waiting for a peg for 16 months, the Pegasos II has only been available for 10 months, not even a full year yet. And the production runs during this period has constantly been too low in volume (for the same reason as allways - cash flow). The demand for Pegasos boards has constantly been much higher than the available suply, to many eager peoples annoyance. This probably only made it even more difficult to *give away* boards (=only a cost) at the expense of real sales possibilies (=revenue to pay bills) during that time.

I will look forward to see the program on OS4, shame for the MOS users though.

Seems that Buck's promises backfires when he doesn't deliver as promised.
I can fully understand Genesis situation back then, but Buck should have made a statement saying that they have trouble delivering the free stuff because of the Pretory thing.
I think honesty would have been appreciated and made developers (and some employees?) stick to Genesi. Should have thought Amiga companies had learned a lesson about honesty, but I guess not.

Alkis, please don't use that kind of language (even if he deserves it:)

You don't have to inform me about dates ;)

The dates I gave are based on Frank's emails so they are 100% accurate. I want to add that my impression is that he was contracted to port the map-program, but not SoundStudio. Some discussions were made about SS where I was also a part of but nothing was realised.

Anyway, he WAS indeed promised a free board and he never got one, one minus for Genesi. Not even not when things are better. I'd have stopped waiting two years ago, the guy has patience.

The post say 16 months but maybe you are right and he was promised a Peg1 when they first was made on the pre april times. Many developers got boards for free back then (rather later) I guess he was forgotten or such. Poor guy, no one deserves that, to not having free boards. I wonder if he has made the condition to not develop for OS4 unless he get A1 for free, or I wonder if he has hecitations to pay twice the money for the A1 then a Peg would have costed him, and develop for that even he had to pay for it himself. Well I whish him the best of luck in the future on his platform of choice. The A1 is a very fine piece of hardware as he will notice. Now the future success of his programs is given!

Exactly. While this was sad in a way, I am not surprised at all. There are probably some other people out there too who are still hoping for free Pegs, maybe they will get one some day (if so, then lycky them), maybe not (too bad for them). In any case they should have applied for the Freescale offer. If they didn't, then they simply blew their chances this time. Maybe there will be more opportunities like this in the future, who knows? In any case, this is not a very big deal anyway. Shit happens, but life goes on ...

There's no AmigaOS/MOS for laptops or PDAs, ie something you can use on the road, and at home you've got a boatload of both free and commercial internet map services at your fingertips.

I think congratulations are in order if you have really cracked it. From what you posted in Another Place, it seems to be a matter of cutting a few tracks and soldering in a few patch wires. If so, any competent electronics technician should be able to do it.

Let's hope the tests come out well.

Now how about the built in sound, which I have always assumed was also a board layout bug?

you support the AmigaOS40 development, if you buy the AmigaOne, if you buy the Teron then you get board whit the wrong firmware version and checksum, you can upgrade it whit firmware used on the AmigaOne, and you don get the AmigaOS, so you most pirate it from some where, you do not get any serial number of any updates from Hyperion, you do not get access to private AmigaOS40 user forums,
