I think it is odd myself, but even though Amiga Inc. is presenting the AmigaONE as the only near alternative, perhaps also presenting the bPlan one, they haven't mentioned the myriad of other PPC mainboards out there. What will they do?

Corinna Cohn's Amiga 2001 Show Report and Analysis (part 1 and part 2). One exerpt: The biggest booth belonged to a new exhibitor, Merlancia Industries (..) The owner brought his Delorean to the show but had to park it outside. I was looking at his Delorean and thought it a good symbol for the Amiga--An beautifully styled automobile that captured the imagination of millions, but in 2001 looks dated and dirty.

Now everyone's clamoring for me to write a Rumor Mill to make sense of it all, and I don't even know what 'it all' IS. But then, not knowing what the hell I'm talking about never stopped me in the past. So let's take a quick tour of the Web and try to figure out what really went on, since Moo Bunny (usually my first stop for news - that's why I built it!) is basically just line noise right now. Gary Peake says that this posting [on Moo Bunny] does a really good job of summarising Amiga Inc.'s strategy.

Fleecy writes: "As far as I am aware, bPlan is making an AmigaOne. I am sending an email to them today to see if they are still wanting to produce an AmigaOne or whether they wish to pull out of that agreement.". In anothermessage, he says: (..) The AmigaDE is a service based architecture (..) On the AmigaOS, it is the most powerful because we know the host so well that the two are essentially one. (..) Then, on the MorphOS subject: Please don't be hard on the MorphOS ppl. They are very talented and have been badly abused over the past few years. I do wish they would work with us, but they need to let go of the past. I have tried to convince them that Amiga Inc is now in charge and all will change - they don't believe me. I don't know what more I can do." On the Psion connection: "Yes, we are working to have AmigaDE running on Psion. There will be more news about this, but I don't know when. Finally, on their revised strategy: AmigaOS is now a key part of our strategy, now that we have decided it will form the basis for our home server, whereas before it was independent from our DE strategy, so this is what makes it so important. In a kind of tradition, I just thought I'd mention that Slashdot mentions the Amiga/Sharp deal.

From the AmigaOne mailing list: In reply to a question by Paul Qureshi napisa³(a), I am wondering, has Elbox said anything or contacted anyone regarding their Shark G4? They mentioned that it would be targetted at AmigaDE some time ago, and it would be up to H&P to provide WarpUP support..., Darek Dulian, Support Department at Elbox Computer answered Hi, SharkPPC+ G3/G4 in Mediator PCI together meet zico spec requirements. Changed: Minor editing.
