[Motd] I am going back to school | ANN.lu |
Posted on 13-Sep-2000 12:56 GMT by Christian Kemp | 22 comments View flat View list |
I phoned and drove around a lot this morning, and finally found a school where classes weren't too crowded yet. So, after much thinking and considering, I now resigned from my job and I'm going back to school. I'd like to thank everybody for the comments and emails that reached me since yesterday evening, you sure made a difference! Not only did your ideas, stories, comments and also opposing views help me to realize which route I must take, but you also created an awesome compilation of wisdom I can go back to should I ever be in doubt later on.

It's been quite some time since I last wrote a MOTD... This one is supposed to announce beta15 of the scripts, now with a more colorful rating interface (although I'm not entirely satisfied with it yet) and a bugfix that suppresses the "Read More" link for concerned articles in a comment's flat view and shows the entire article instead. Besides that, my life has been changing lately, not always for the better, and I haven't always had the opportunity and motivation to update ANN. Even though Teemu is doing an excellent job, I'd still appreciate an additional moderator or two to increase the number of articles posted on the main page, especially for (but not limited to) the files and/or web section.

Deron Kazmaier, the developer of PageStream, writes: "I've assembled packages for interested third parties so that they may begin writing addons for PageStream in the form of filters, printer drivers (Amiga only), language modules, bitmap effects, scanner modules and more. I will probably start a 5th mailing list to cover questions and support for those developers. I am also looking for help on improving the developer documentation, examples, and clarifying the calls." Developer information is available here.
