Everyone remembers "Elite", and one of the original authors David Braben, who is still making games for Windows / Linux platforms. I decided to mail them to ask if they had considered Tao / Amiga, but they said "it is not currently a viable option."

On 18:00 of that specific day, within three seconds, they plan to roll out Dev Box programs, ship the New Amiga SDK and open the Amiga Support Network. This page links to a hack on UAE/linux that adds a JIT compiler. This was mentioned with more detail in this article in the Unmoderated section, where Harry Sintonen tested it and thought it still felt like a 040. Georg Steger reports in one of the comments that benchmarks indicate a much faster machine, and that DoomAttack is much faster on a P2/300 than on his 68030/50.
