[Motd] ANN v2 pre-release 14 + other news | ANN.lu |
Posted on 26-May-2000 18:11 GMT by Christian Kemp | 4 comments View flat View list |
It's been a while since I last updated ANN's scripts. Pre-release 14 basically only adds a minor new feature in the "Older articles" navigation bar on the right: it now displays how many comments there have been for the article in question, and provides a direct link to the comments flat view.
In other news, I'm still busy parsing my server logs to be able to have sufficient proof in the AmigaOnline & Eternity banner display controversy. With work being busier and track&field meetings every weekend now, my free time is pretty limited, but I'll keep you all updated on any new developments in this case, and more importantly, if/when I finally receive payment for the banner displays.

[News] Amiga mentioned by BBC :) | ANN.lu |

Loz Davies writes:
Amiga gets a mention as a cut-down web server on the BBC news web pages.
Read the full article, or just
the relevant quote: A Dutch company is making web servers using old Commodore 64 computers that were
popular in the mid-1980s. Several web servers are run off old Amiga computers and there is
even a project to turn hand held computers such as the Palm into low volume web servers.
Not very spectacular, admittedly, but for some odd reason the article made me grin, sarcastically.

Posted on 23-May-2000 14:52 GMT by Christian Kemp | 13 comments View flat View list |
A minor rant on why the advances in computer technology often do not matter much to the end user, because it is still impossible to accomplish simple but unusual tasks. Today's task: inject a 80 MB access.log into a database.
