[News] RealSoft4D port to Amiga? | ANN.lu |
Posted on 23-May-2000 12:52 GMT by Christian Kemp | 2 comments View flat View list |
Cybes noticed a story on AmigaCentral about Realsoft 4D. From Realsoft's FAQ page:
Will there be an amiga version of realsoft 4d? Although the Amiga market may already be rather small, there is some pressure to provide old, loyal Amiga customers with a new version. Therefore, we have not decided to abandon the platform yet. Hopefully, after porting the software to several other platforms, the small platform dependent kernel becomes so 'polished'and many times tested, that also Amiga version could be ported cost efficiently.

I wrote an article

details and technical stuff out, so it would be more pleasantly to read

[News] ZIP Drive declared incompatible with Amiga | ANN.lu |
Posted on 19-May-2000 07:24 GMT by Christian Kemp | 44 comments View flat View list |
Carl Butler contacted
IOmega's tech support because his ZIP drive was suffering from the "Click of Death" syndrome, and he wanted it replaced (even at a cost). The customer support told him that because [he] was using this drive on an Amiga and its associated s/w [..] there is nothing [they] can do for [him] as the Amiga is most likely the cause of the problems [he is] experiencing. Another prime example of unqualified tech support, who are quick to blame anything non-standard even though the CoD syndrome is a known hardware defect in ZIPs, as admitted by IOmega.

I offered Amiga a product (yes, its a good one) and got in interesting response from them.
Unfortunately, I had to remove the response due to NDA/confidentiality concerns.

Exoticons is a new icon collection for the Amiga. It uses
the NewIcons system and contains icons for around 942 games. The icons are based on the hi-resolution scans from the ExoticA Games Gallery. Download v0.01 :) of Exoticons from ExoticA (look on the news page for the link).

Check my homepage for some preview shots of the Amiga port of GLTron. It will be released when the sound is working properly. Current requirements are: PPC board with ~16MB ram and StormMesa. 68k support will be added if there's enough interest (and if it's playable).
