Do you know the saying 'to err is human'? While you are right that making sure there are no violations are present is important, it's also important that we are talking to people here, they can, and will, make errors, we all do, what the problem is, the thing that gets to alot of people, is the way these things are handled by some people, i'd guess that only one or two people were serious about this issue, while the rest of the complaining people jumped on the bandwagon in order to get a shot to the Friedens (or Amidog, afew weeks/months ago).
Violating the GPL is bad, intentionally trying to undermine a person is worse.
See a violation of the GPL? Mail the people involved & be done with it.
