In a posting
in the unmoderated section
here on ANN, Kevin Orme asked whether AmigaCentral.com was
still around. In a comment posted as reply, Chris Korhonen wrote: Basically, we decided it was no longer viable to continue the site. From our point of view the Amiga is dead, very little software and support. And Amiga's current plans may sound nice but they will either: a) Never Appear b) Apear, but, will not be anything like the amiga you know and love. Which will leave amiga owners with some non standard hardware which is of limited use. It was good whil it lasted but its time to call it a day.

Amiga Central closes : Comment 31 of 35 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Pierre Narcisse on 29-Oct-2000 23:00 GMT | In reply to Comment 25 (Mike Bouma): Mike I couldn't agree with you more. I don't know why people are so stuck on the classic platform when they them selfs are stating that their Amiga 500, 2000, 3000, and 4000 are collecting a bit of dust next to their pc. Well that goes to show that the platform is dying.
Amiga Inc. has taken the right approach Commodor lost the great atvantage it had when it came to graphic chipsets. Remember back then ther was no Matrox or Ndiva or Voodoo just the Amiga with its custom chips. But we blew that lead and now the pc industry is full of chipset makers that surpass what even the triple A chip set was to do. So why fight the tide when we can use it to our advantage.
The thing the world needs is a standar that unifies all computing from desktop, ,settop, laptop, plamtop to phone tops.
The pc was that standard that got applications to unifie and run on a common platform under Incense(intel) M$winbloat. However that left out alot of other chip makers sus as sun, sony, 3com, Motorola etc.. who wanted to paly as well.
Well here comes AmigaDE with the power to let all these chip makers play in a leveled feild. The DE also gives you the user the option as to which chip maker you want to use you are no longer tied down to the wintel world. Freedom is around the corner you just have to take that step. You see the World Is Ready for change. Are You? |
