Alien Design write: "The negotiation for the production of the REPULSE sound card is finished. Individual Computers, the company that brought you products like Catweasel and X-Surf, will produce and distribute the REPULSE. To start the production this year Individual Computers wants to have as much as possible pre-orders." The price for the card is around 250 Euros.

SoundBlaster LIVE cards, which are part of the AmigaDE ZICO spec, are only like $60 over here, so that's like £24 UK. The older soundblasters aren't worth it.
The Repulse makes me think of the PULSAR, a $2000+ audio production system, a kinda 'audio toaster'...

The Repulse might be nice if it contained a SHARC DSP like the Pulsar (which has six of them).
However, the 20/18bit system is a lot nicer than plain old 16bit I/O. The Repulse sound card has a S/P-DIF In/Output with 24 Bit @ 96 kHz output.
I just wonder what kind of software it comes with. |
