While NewOS seems little more than yet-another-kernel at this stage, it might prove a lighter replacement for, say, a full BSD install on older hardware. Cryptically, "Amiga 3000 - M68040" is listed as a planned port; the system currently runs on Wintel and Dreamcast, with the SGI Indy port in active development.
