Dave Haynie's Deathbed Vigil film is now available as a special 8th anniversary DVD edition. Individual Computers will import it to Germany for the AMIGA + RETRO COMPUTING 2002 show in Aachen, Germany.
Dave Haynie, one of the most popular developers of Commodore, has made a special edition of his film "Deathbed Vigil" for the 8th anniversary of the Commodore bankruptcy. Individual Computers will import the DVD, and offer it for 39,- EUR at the fare. Please pre-order your copy via eMail, so we'll have enough DVDs for the show.
There is no country code on the DVD, and it can be played back on all players. Audio is English only. Video and Audio haven been digitally re-mastered, and new scenes have been added that have not been published before on the VHS tape. The Bonus material contains the music video "Chicken-Lips Blues", a new short film called "Amiga Impact", and a photo album that Dave has compiled.

>Ep2 cost $120million to make. But it recouped that easily from box-office
>alone - on its opening weekend it took $80m in the US alone.
Yeah, so what's your point? The original DBV cost probably cost $4 to film(battery time, camcorder wear and tear, vhs tape, estimate not including DH's spare time). I dont know what kind numbers the first edition DBV sold, but it certainly recooped the cost and made a profit.
>Rest assured that the DVD of Ep2 is not paying off the costs of the filming!
>Plus the DVD of Ep2 is made in huge quantities, as others have said - you have
>heard of "economies of scale", right?
And your point again? Ep2 is made in huge quantities, yet they also spend millions of $ on advertising it. So far it looks like $0 is spent on advertising the DBV.
>As for your arrogant statement that all the DB DVD took was "a few hours of
>DH's time"
Learn to read properly and learn to cut and paste. It's funny how anonymous cowards always pretend to read something that does not exist. I never said "a few hours of DH's time" I said "This cost some of DH's free time" Who knows how many hours of his free time this took, but he himself stated it was a free time project right here on ANN.
>- so you expect DHY to spend his spare time working away on this DVD for free
>just so you can get it a little cheaper? Get real.
Did I say that? I am questioning the price point. IMO they would sell alot more copies(10X plus) with a more attractive price, you sell more you make more profit, simple math. This is my opinion as I clearly stated. DH could sell it for $2,000 a copy for as far as I care.
>Ep2 DVD will sell millions. DBV DVD won't. you cannot compare the two.
Ep2 will sell millions, yet the cost of producing the special edition DVD itself and the advertising campaign that goes along cost millions of $. DBV won't sell millions, but it could have sold thousands(imo) and cost a very negligible to produce.
Once again for anyone who is reading impaired, I have alot of respect for DH and hope his DVD sells well. I just personally feel he could have sold alot more copies and made more profit with a more attractive price. |
