Amiga Future: Preview-Pictures from SOMS : Comment 4 of 7 | ANN.lu |
Posted by m0ns00n on 05-Dec-2002 12:36 GMT | In reply to Comment 3 (Anonymous): Well, as for the money earning bit, I think developers should give Linux a chance again. The userbase is much larger than the Amiga market, and it is growing still. I think many people would buy the game, me included, if it will be as good as one can expect from a modern 3D game, specially on Linux. On Windows on the other hand, if the game is below the average that is set by, say, the Ultima team, or the Quake II engine, then I do not see that they will earn much on the Windows platform anyway. Why buy this game if Neverwinter Nights II is out.
Linux is viable. The reason sales have been bad in the past is that game/app developers do not distribute their products well. If they would let people buy online and download, like HiSoft did with IBrowse, I think more people would buy them, but post order only is not good (also why I have my doubts about certain HW tbreleased.) |
