Bluetooth for Amiga ! : Comment 5 of 11 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Joe "Floid" Kanowitz on 23-Apr-2003 09:16 GMT | This is both nifty and not particularly astounding. See, these Bluetooth "cable replacements" are designed to do exactly that- replace cables, as transparently as possible. If you think it's great for Amigas, imagine how nice it'd be to use with, say, a Psion Series 5, or any other portable without the option of 802.11b support.
One thing to keep in mind is that, as with 802.11 and WEP, security can be a bit of a headache, as can interoperability between devices (especially early ones and those bearing the Microsoft brand, or so I gather), since the spec has 'evolved' as a sort of moving target. Not a big deal for a single home cable-replacement, but if you intend to use the same 'piconet' for Internet sharing/PDA syncing/etc, it's something to be aware of. |
