AmigaF: The next big thing for all Amigans : Comment 41 of 44 | ANN.lu |
Posted by XraalE on 20-Oct-2004 19:37 GMT | In reply to Comment 31 (Anonymous): > No its true Kenny. You do come across as an obsessed individual.
Oh please, don't exaggerate. Obsession is a serious mental condition, like having to have your car keys in one place all the time or end up in shrieking catatonia. Obsessed is not striking out at things you know are unfair, with satire no less, not DoS attacks or anonymous insults. If it was, the whole justice system would be obsessed with criminality, as an allagory.
> You were a blind fanatic when you were on the red side (don't ask for
> references they will haunt you forever) and now you are doing the same

Uh, more exaggeration. I hardly think I was ever a blind fanatic. Old comments from me are still available on older AO news threads, and nowhere will you find me saying anything that can be remotely considered "blind fanaticism". Even in my 'red' days I was still getting angry PMs about comments I made about the AmigaONE or Amiga Inc. I'm too much of a cynic for that kind of blinkered fanboy crap, or I would be happy signing <200 name petitions to get huge commercial titles ported to my OS of choice, or posting anonymous insults, defending the faith, or whatever.
I'm bit aggressive pointing out my views, certainly, but not in the same league as some who seem to have gone mad in this quest to purge everything they see and read of any opinion differing from their own. That's quite sick, approaching the obsession you're accusing me of. Not only am I disconcerted by this behaviour, I've been directly insulted by it. I'm not willing to just "let it go" for the sake of keeping a fake civility, so it can all go on in "shielded" sites and IRC channels. It just stinks of hypocrisy. No thanks.
> Sometimes friends are only being polite when they laugh at your jokes.
> It not always genuine amusement so don't flatter yourself.
Heh, the old "you're only doing it to look cool" argument. Well, you're wrong, because the idea of writing anonymously automatically ecludes that, don't you think? And you're wrongly assuming I do all the writing, which I certainly don't. I mostly edit and anglify. WrongPlanet represents a lot of people, of whom I'm only one. For my part I'm not interested in who laughs, I'm not out to have adulation lavished on me, or my name would be all over the thing. Satire is for what satire was always for - to prove a point. One way or another.
> Alternatively leave the scene for a few months and come back as an
> outsider to see how pathetic this two toned trolling really is.
Well, the only thing more pathetic than a 'troll' (a badly overused epithet) is someone from 'outside' who is willing to pass judgement on anyone or everything without knowing a damn thing about what is going on. There are far too many people like that. Ahem. In most cases, they're the real trolls. |
