IBM are making Dick Tracy's watch reality. According to a story on CNET, IBM have created a prototype watch that is built around an ARM-based processor and has 8Mb of memory. It's running the Linux operating system. Maybe something like this could even be practical with Tao's technology (or QNX's, as the article suggests)?

Ah, it says it can TELL time. Doesn't specify if it will show you what time it is. Heck, automatic sprinklers and answering machines can tell time but they usually don't display it!
I was just pointing out that they never specify that it will have a numerical readout displaying the current hour and minute. What can I say, I was bored. ;)

No I couldn't. I only got a non-rendered html page (all html tags showing and no graphics displayed) with no image URIs included.

re: the super watch, Bill showed a cell phone at AmiWest (GSM-type so won't work in U.S.A.) that had a Pole Position-type game in it. FWIW, it looked like the graphics were as good as you could expect off a monochrome, small screen and was very smooth. He said the watch was running some embedded Moto processor, I think. It had 4 MB and "more processing power than the original A1200"!
But he showed it because it was running Elate.
So now we'll be able to hand someone our phone, and compete against them on our watch, fully networked!! :) PaulT
