From VGR website:
Mr. Hardware (A computer dealer in Rocky Point, NY, USA) will introduce 2 new "PC on a cards" for the Amiga market at the Amiga show in St. Louis this weekend. I had a chance earlier in the week to do a quick IRC interview with the guys at Mr. Hardware and talk about the PC on a card they will be showing there. You can read the interview here. Also on the page is hardware specs and pictures of the cards.

Posted by Trizt on 29-Mar-2001 22:00 GMT | Don't look like that, but I don't understand why anyone would buy a card where you can't access the other cards on the Amiga as it's alot cheaper to buy a ATX-IMB-PC-clone than the card.
The card uses expensive CPUs, I rather had seen an SocketA version which could access the other cards and with a new software pacages so you don't have to run old-ware like siamese. |

Posted by Trizt on 29-Mar-2001 22:00 GMT | It don't seem to be that way...
I must agree on that there don't seem to be anyuse of this card, it's cheaper to get a real IBM-PC clone than the card.
To make it more atractive, I think they had to have choosen socketA, communication trough the ISA/PCI with other cards on the host-Amiga, a new software to replace old siamese.
(Seems like the "add a new comment" don't like NetScape 6.x) |

Works fine here (Netscape 6.01, Windows 2000), as far as I can tell. |

Renaissance/AT and Renaissance/S370
www.powerleap.com is supposed to be a distributor in the U.S., but I don't see one on their product page. When PCWorld did a review of the cards they said they ran from $199 on up.
Anyway, if you want the PCI form factor, looks like they're available now. |

Posted by rdupuy on 29-Mar-2001 22:00 GMT | The only place I actually found selling this card is:
http://www.pctestpro.com/jshop/page5.htm
And they want $320 U.S. for the bare card, you add the processor and memory. It sounds like Mr. Hardware might have decent pricing.
Couldn't find anyone selling the the PCI version, www.friendtech.com's site says that in North America only VARs and Corporate accounts can purchase their products. |

Posted by Joe "Floid" Kanowitz on 30-Mar-2001 22:00 GMT | It's an interesting niche product, but as we've all said, unless you're starved for apartment space...
On the other hand, it might be cute for an AmigaOne box, since ethernet can basically replace the bridgeboard bus connections, as they say. Curiously, the ISA one just pops in for support, but that PCI card has some pins on it... |
