Cool, now where is that promised Pegasos dealerlist?
Have the AmigaOne devboards shipped already?

Well, as it is for _dealers_, why should they post it to some public forum for _users_ ?

Looks more like a list for users looking for a place to buy an AmigaOne.. So, comment 1 is right, where's the paegasos list ?

Where's the AmigaOne itself? Late again! They can announce as many schedules, order dates, revised specifications and limited edition Amiga-branded Linux boxes as they like, but the AmigaOne missed another deadline today.

Yeah so ? We've been closer to a new system then we've been for years ! At least this Amiga Inc with Hyperion show progress (Unlike the Escom/Gateway Amiga Tech/Inc).
Anyway,
Where's the Pegasos ? Where's MorphOS ?Why don't we hear anything from bPlan or the MorphOS team themseldes anymore ?

There was no deadline missed today. The developer boards (for those who ordered back in march) were scheduled to take approximately 4 weeks to manufacture and ship to Eyetech. The boards, I assume, would have to be quality controlled (eg. tested) and then shipped to the people who ordered them, which, depending on where you live, could take another week or more.
So, no "current" deadline has been missed, at least not yet.

Actually they said "4-6 weeks", so there is a lot of leeway in there.
(Hmm can't find that particular statement on the site right now, perhaps
I saw it in one of Alan's comments)

In terms of timeframes the board is now ready to go into production, with a
lead time of 4-6 weeks. However we will not press the button until we can be
sure that OS4 will be ready to run on the board in the same timeframe. OS4
is scheduled to go into beta during March, and we will make A1 boards
available to help with this process. When we get the thumbs up from Hyperion
we will start production and they will be with your local dealer around 6
weeks later.

In terms of timeframes the board is now ready to go into production,
[But it wasn't actually put into production]
with a lead time of 4-6 weeks.
[Eyetech contradicted this later by saying "around 4 weeks" but it seems that in truth their original estimate was closer, this is week 5 ]
However we will not press the button until we can be sure that OS4 will be
ready to run on the board in the same timeframe.
[This was the excuse last year too. Tired]
OS4 is scheduled to go into beta during March,
[This Beta never materialised, and is now likely to slip into May/June]
and we will make A1 boards available to help with this process.
[Good thing OS4 Beta was delayed, no AmigaOnes at all until May]
When we get the thumbs up from Hyperion we will start production and they will be with your local dealer around 6 weeks later.
[Even if there are no more problems you'll be lucky to buy this product before July]

Offcourse I'll wait.. I'v been waiting ever since C= went beybey (like most of you :) (Ordered the Amiga One tho, no pegasos (yet, maybe later).. But why is it that everytime Amiga inc is quiet people shout "They don't tell us what they're up to" and when MorphOS is keeping quiet they say "theyre to busy"...
I'm not flaming MorphOS, I like the idea of having 2 compatible OSes out there, tho I'll opt for Amiga OS 4..

Mr. Anonymous, you're confused. You're quoting a statement regarding the
"user" version of the AmigaOne. This discussion is about the "developer"
version, which does not depend on OS4. Please pay attention.
So, if I may introduce some actual facts into this discussion, as one who
ordered the "developer" version, I have not been contacted by Eyetech and
my credit card has not been charged, so I can only assume they have not
sent out the boards yet. The announcement of the dealer list suggests
that some things have been happening, however. I'd hope it means the
release of the boards is imminent.

In reply to Comment 12 (Leki):
I doubt they're *fitting* the ROMs, as it's been stated that the Amiga specific "ROM" is not an additional ROM chip but rather extensions to the existing OpenFirmware flash :-) So no physical fitting should be required.
With a bit of luck they're just re-flashing them.
I've got my dev board ordered and can wait for a few more weeks.
Cheers,
Alex.

For phucks sake, how old are you?!
If oyu have ANY idea of IT hardware or software project management you will know that these things cannot be rushed.
What would you rather buy, a buggy AmigaOne with buggy OS4 next week or a full tested and ready system in July?
Comments like yours are an insult to the people that have invested so much time and effort into this project. The longer it takes to ship, the longer Amiga, Eyetech and Hyperion have to wait to start recovering development costs, so dont you think they're trying their hardest to get it ready???

Yeah, Dakang, you're right...
The worst thing they can bring us is a buggy (not tested) OS and...
what is dangerously also, with a lot of leaks in security of TCP/IP stack capable to interfere with OS and leaving malicious ppl free to do bad things with Amiga PPC OS...
(read *malicious ppl* same as people and peephole)
Bye,
Raffaele
P.S. Give us a DECENT OS

Which is more than reasonable if you ask me. Subscribe to a weekly magazine and they'll tell you it will take about 6 to 8 weeks for you to receive the first copy, for a monthly it will take 2 to 3 months so even if it takes 6 to 8 weeks to receive the AmigaOne I think it's pretty fair considering all that it's involved.

It's amazing how "anonymous" posters have the harderst time understanding the most simple sentences:
>In terms of timeframes the board is now ready to go into production,
>[But it wasn't actually put into production]
What a discovery! They even tell you below why:
>However we will not press the button until we can be sure that OS4 will be
>ready to run on the board in the same timeframe.
They can have production started whenever they want
>OS4 is scheduled to go into beta during March,
>[This Beta never materialised, and is now likely to slip into May/June]
it never did? So, you must be a beta tester of OS4 who was left out since I know differently. Or maybe you think beta testing is done and concluded in a week. Personally I want the product tested as long and as thoroughly as necessary.

They do?
And you misunderstood Ben Hermans' sentence that OS4 external beta testing
didn't start yet... This means that only internal developers, parts of the company, and possibly partners have the beta to test.
This post isn't anything against anyone. It's not a flame. It just states
a confirmed fact.

lol - yeah, to be quickly followed by:
C-Day (Court Day)when MOS is withdrawn from sale.
Which will then turn into:
C-Year which will drive it further into the backs of peoples minds.
To finish in:
B-Day (Bankruptcy Day) which will be the final fate of all those involved in attempting to distribute MOS.

I agree. Please just cool down and let's see what the not-so-distant-anymore future has in store.
And _do_ set up a MNN (Morphos Network News), someone. That would help a lot. A lot of people don't care dick about MOS, and likewise someone seems to not care dick about AOS or DE. Not having all the news on the same place might take some of the aggressiveness away...
If MorphOS really is as good and as different from AmigaOS as some here seems to claim, I think it would deserve it's own news site on the web. Then we BAF's could go on with our happy blissfull worshipping of "The Name" inc etc ;)
