As was mentioned earlier, and this applies to anyone with server issues...

We are running our servers on a true T3 now, so we have plenty of bandwidth and space available. If anyone has Amiga content related sites that they need hosted, I have authorised our staff to offer free hosting on one of our machines to them. There really are some nice sites out there that are endangered of going away due to cost issues, which is a sad, but true reality for many web designers and creative individuals who deserve better... For such a small, dedicated community, this shouldn't ever have to be an issue.

Our servers have PhP4, Perl5, RebolView/Core and MySQL installed, so all of the above are available to you.

So if anyone needs a content site (e.g. non-commercial site) hosted, we can arrange this with you at no cost to you. This applies to Morph, AROS, and Be related sites too.

If interested, e-mail LotR@merlancial.com.

This is my way of giving some back to the Amiga community..

I've personally almost given up hope of anything real out of A.I. now, as they are even in debt to me for a large sum of money...but as far as the Amiga community is concerned, I have better hopes. You truly are a bunch of wonderful colourful individuals who I have always loved working with. It's a shame we haven't made as great a comeback as I would have hoped...

Hmmm... a large sum of money? You wouldn't be talking about the $100 from the "Party Pack" offer would you? I guess that would be a lot of cash to your company.

Using my "Universal Spin-Doctor Translator" I have decoded this to mean:
"Nobody visits our website and we have no products to produce web pages for which would take up storage space."

Why are you attacking somebody for making a generous offer? No-one is forcing you to pay for anything or take up the offer.

"I've personally almost given up hope of anything real out of A.I. now, as they are even in debt to me for a large sum of money..."
Looks like a rather underhanded stab at Amiga Inc. So where are the details? Where is the truth? Who do Merlancia owe money to? Have they paid for the MCC rights? I think it is time to send Rose Humphries around to examine their books. How about it Rose, feel up to the task? ;)

That would explain a lot :)
I couldn't understand why Merlancia would make such a remark, and if it wasn't them then I appologise for my salvo in my previous thread (IF it wasn't them). If this post is a hoax and an attempt to attack Amiga Inc groundlessly then it needs to be removed.

I can. Take a moment to look at the people in charge of the PR for their efforts and public announcements. Ryan is a great guy but he tends to come off a bit more abrasive than you would expect from a person who owns a company. Also, he tends to take some situations too personally in his public announcements and adds a bit of his own emotion to the "press release".
If I had more time on my hands I'd probably apply for the PR position that has been open for about a year now; However, between private contracting, family, and not so stable income right now it's not worth the risk.

Well, I've heard rumours about them having severe cash problems at this point as well, that's no surprise, especially with this Coupon offer thing, surely they wouldn't of done something so embarrassing to themselves if they didn't need the cash.

In reply to Comment 9 (MIKE):
I still can't honestly see the "coupon" thing as being a cash-raising excercise. I believe Amiga Inc when they say they are testing the market to get a realistic figure of how many potential AmigaOne owners are out there - but it doesn't seem to have worked (for various reasons). Consider this: even IF they sold 2500 coupons, that's only $125,000 (which wouldn't even pay off my mortgage). Now subtract the cost of the T-shirt and postage & packing and you are probably left with $85,000... which wouldn't even cover the costs of 1 months operations.
According to the MOS team, Amiga Inc ran out of cash over 18 months ago and had their phones cut off... they seem to be doing well for a company that has had no income for a year and a half. I think it's pretty obvious that Amiga Inc (and their friends) are doing well, products are being shipped and developed, Amiga Inc are interested in what their customers and protential customers think... and the competition are VERY worried. Even a rat will attack a bear when it's backed into a corner with no escape... and Thendic seem to be on the attack... :)

Well, Merlancia isn't really on the MorphOS team anymore, and no MorphOS team members that I know of told me they were broke 18 months ago, of course at that time MorphOS was going to be the next AmigaOS, so the MorphOS team wasn't really saying much publicly about Amiga during the negotiations.

Actually is was Ralph Schmidt himself who claimed this, right here on ANN. It may have been 12 months ago - life has been so busy for me I have trouble remembering what year I'm in. I'm sure if you ask him then he'll be able to clarify the details for you - it was quite an event and he suceeded in pi$$ing off a multitude of people which is why so many ANN readers have it in for him (well, one of the reasons). ;)

Yeah, but his original post was "begging" someone to ask him the question to start with. It's like that annoying kid in the playground when you were 5 who used to yell "I know something you don't know, nahh-nahh-nahh-na-na-na!!!". This just demonstrates the mentality we're dealing with. I really hope this isn't Melancia behind this and it's just a sick MOS-fan as no company should behave like this, but then having looked at Bill's posts on the "MOS-bench demo thread" who knows...

2000 coupons should buy him 181 AmigaOnes and enough change to put one of them into a tower case. Anyway, if he'd rather wipe his bottom on them then perhaps the ink will rub off, soak into his skin and poison him. It would be kind of amusing to think of him recovering in hospital with multiple smudged boing-ball images all over his ass. :)

Anyone that entrusts anything more important than their pet rock, especially their content, their IP or their domain name, to this, is BEGGING for trouble.
Simply begging. On a garage creeper. Don't I and others know.
Also, we could be convinced to tell what we know if this purile bullshit continues for too much longer. So all parties should consider their words and their machinations, both public and private very carefully. Especially those who know where the websites are buried.
So, wise is the man who simply jumps the fsck down.

Whomever has been making these posts has clearly forgotten, or perhaps not been informed (in the offchance it's not actually Mr. Czerwinski) that ownership of Amiga Inc's loan from Merlancia was transferred, at Merlancia's request, to a group of Merlancia's creditors. I feel fairly certain that Merlancia would not benefit from an open discussion of this situation, here or anywhere else.

Ryans online name is lotr@mer..... for those who don't know.
Harv Laser has his subscription board (sorry forgot the) being run from Merlancia.
So it wouldn't supprise that Merlancia might make such an offer, but then web hosting
costs today can be rather competitive and low cost. But considering that Ryan is an
Amiga ...... collector......
But what is interesting, is that Merlancia is now publicly known to be something of an
investor in Amiga inc.
I seem to have recalled a few questionable stories about Merlancia and even you Dave.
But I haven't seen any more verification about those stories than I see regarding this
one. All I see is information about Merlancia helping Amiga inc. out financially.
Speculation (I don't know nothin):
If Amiga inc are doing bad and go under, then I'd imagine the Amiga property held by
Amiga inc. ...... Well creditors are to be considered ...... Merlancia end up with it???
But even if such a possibility existed, would ....... would there be shrewd business
motive on Ryans part to take such a gamble?
Another thing is ....what is Amiga spending the money on? Rent and employee pay ... for
doing what? They are not developing OS4..... so AmigaDE, AmigaDE/AmigaAnyware....Amiverse,
ACM, SHEEP....NDA, Double NDA and Double Secret NDA....etc...
<rolls eyes>
How well did Hi-Torro (sp?) hide their Development of Amiga, Dave?

At this point, it's only an exaggeration of former dealings.

In both cases, and every other one that comes your way, consider the source. For every bad guy out there, there is someone who will fall for his deceipt, and someone who will try to warn you off. For every good guy out there, there is some jerk who feels the need to bring them down a notch or two, generally because such losers have accomplished nothing real in life on their own.
> If Amiga inc are doing bad and go under, then I'd imagine the Amiga property

The chance of that happening is precisely 0%, were Amiga to tank tomorrow. Trust me, I have a degree in Engineering and Mathematics, I'm being scientifically precise on this one.
> How well did Hi-Torro (sp?) hide their Development of Amiga, Dave?
Exceedingly well. No one, not even those of us in the business at the time, got wind of the their development until they wanted us to. And I know what you're thinking, but consider that "leaking it" isn't a recent development. Amiga (you didn't hear of anything when they were called Hi-Toro) managed to tweak the industry's need to know just as Be, Transmeta, Segway, etc. have in the days since. Free publicity is the best kind.
The things I know about that Amiga, Inc. is working on, in-house, are far more compelling for the future of the company than AmigaOS 4.0 or anything of that ilk. And I don't begin to claim to know everything they're doing.
