The new production run of Retro Replay is finished, and at the same time, the networking card for C64, RR-Net, goes on sale. Please mind that the ami.ga domain is currently not working! In time with the announced date, the new production run of the Retro Replay is finished. Compared to the old cartridges, only cosmetic changes have been made: The most significant change is the colour: Blue instead of black. After many requests by users, the jumpers are now mounted straight, not to the side. To ensure proper mounting in our new cases, the mounting hole has been moved and changed in diameter to perfectly fit the transparent cases.

At the same time, the networking card RR-Net is going on sale. The card is plugged to the expansion port of the Retro Replay, and allows connecting the C64 to an intranet. Although the operating system Contiki is freeware, we have an agreement with the author Adam Dunkels: He gets paid for every RR-Net unit that's sold. Contiki is an operating system that offers many features in very small space: A TCP/IP stack, a web browser, a webserver, a VNC-client and of course a graphical user interface. It is included on a 5,25 inch disk for the C64. To make use of all features of Contiki, an intranet with router should be available.

As an introductory offer, there's a network-bundle. It contains:

Retro Replay
RR-Net with Contiki
transparent case
worldwide shipment

together for only 100,- EUR!

Please use the contact form at our website for your order. Unfortunately, our domain ami.ga does not work at the moment, because the republic of Gabon is currently migrating their internet connection from satellite to undersea cable. Even with our server in Germany, both the website and email addresses are affected, but the contact form works reliably!

Now port Mozilla to C64. I still own a Prologic Dos Classic and Action Replay so loading times are no issue :)

Great news! :-)

I understand that these products be usable on the C1 as well?

BTW, how is the C1 coming along? Soon to be here now?

Thanks!

Jens, your circuits are electronic marvels, but you really need to test your designs on the cases they're going to be running inside of. Case in point: the rev1 RR that has the mounting hole wrong so it won't fit in a normal cardridge case and the c-one, with its "off by a few mm" audio connectors that won't let the board fit in an atx case and the backwards SDRAM socket. I can see you reading this and thinking "yeh whatever - it works great doesn't it?", but it really detracts from the way people perceive the finished item. It's good to see that you're finally starting realize this :)

In reply to Comment 4 (Anonymous):
The Rev1 Retro Replay has the mounting hole exactly in the position where the original Commodore cases need it. If you have any Commodore cartridge case, try it out!

The new transparent cases have been made with totally different tooling. I figured that the old cart holds fine in the case with the buttons holding the PCB perfectly in place, but it's a lot better with the smaller mounting hole.

The f*ckup on the mechanical parts on the C-One are only partially my fault: Jeri designed it, and I did not put it into a case before ordering the production run. As for mechanical, I guess the Catweasel MK3 PCI/Flipper is not too bad, eh? And once you see the reworks on the C-One board, there's more mechanical tweaks that I'm a little proud of. I guess I'll have pictures of that ready by tomorrow.

The C-One is now sold to a wider circle of developers. If anyone here thinks he can contribute to the early startup, send me an eMail!

Michael Sachse already did a small review of the combo on his commodore64.de site (BTW: He wants to sell the domain!). The review is in German, and he only had a pre-preview of Contiki V1.1 (that was about four weeks ago), but you can get an idea of how easy it is to get started.

Grrrr.. he just deactivated the domain. Looks like he's serious about getting rid of it.

Ah! I didn't know this - I guess I made an ass of myself by ASSuming they'd be the same, eh? :)

That is true, the flipper design is very clever.

Ah, the reworks I heard about. I'm curious to see what they look like! I guess you'll be posting the pictures to www.jschoenfeld.de since www.ami.ga is down right now?

In reply to Comment 2 (takemehomegrandma):
Yes, the cartridge and the networking card can be used on the C-One. As opposed to a real C64, the C-One can also make use of the networking card without the Retro Replay, because it already has a clock-port.

In reply to Comment 11 (kalmar):
That accident was in august 2001. And yes, I recovered pretty fast, they let me out of hospital after six days, and my problems climbing stairs were gone about two months after.

The lawsuit against the truck driver who ran the red light still did not start. German justice is a bit slow.

This picture of the wreck that a friend of mine took reminds me always to buy *heavy* cars again. Any European tinfoil vehicle would have killed me:

A bit hard to identify, but it was a GMC Sierra SLE1500 pickup truck.
