Morphos-news reported that a beta version of MOS 1.5 was seen in action in Bremen this Saturday. *PLUS* A great bonus for MOS 1.5 is ready: Radeon 7000/7500 *3D* hardware drivers now are functioning. Still not finished but usable. These news, together with the announcement of the availability of 1.4.2 (beta2) for downolading, give the couple Pegasos-MorphOS a sure boost.

By "3D" do you mean 2D desktop acceleration, or OpenGL, or both?
(sorry, don't know anything about the state of MorphOS video)

What is the 3D API for MOS called and is there a feature list anywhere? What software is in the works/using it already? Is there a feature list for 1.5?

Sorry for all the questions but it looks like an interesting development.

AFAIK Video Drivers of MOS are until now only 2D...

but I don't know what 3D system they implemented...

OpenGL Mesa? These informations are available on the MorphOS features site, just check it...

In reply to Comment 4 (Raffaele):
MorphOS 1.4.x has 3D drivers for Voodoo cards.

The 3D part is done by Rave3D for the moment. But here is also a Warp3D wrapper (for old Amiga PPC game) and an GL layer named TinyGL.

The 3D driver for Radeon from the news are certainly for Rave3D

Bye

In reply to Comment 4 (Raffaele):
3D drivers for the Voodoo series are already included in MorphOS 1.4.
The drivers are for Rave3D. The Warp3d Wrapper, TiniGL and the mesa
implementation that is yet to be released, all use it.

As both the Warp3D wrapper and the OpenGL wrapper relies on it, it means both Warp3D and OpenGL (TinyGL atm) on Radeon as well.

Actually it's a good step foward ... but Mos need ABSOLUTELY one component: A Native TCP-IP stack. We cannot continue to live wih 68k Miami demo.

afaik rave3d is still a pure rasterizer, ie no possible support for T&L hardware.. not that much use of a radeon then...

Wasn't Morphos 1.5 suppost to be out months ago. Like early this past fall!

Missing deadlines by wide margins, undelivered pre-orders (prepaid), finacial troubles, legal worries, seems like Genesi and Mr. Buck are finally acclimating to the Amiga Market.

Unless I've missed something, I've never seen any 1.5 release date.
What we've all been consistantly told is that it'll be released when
it is ready.

Sounds like this is good news if they are showing off a beta. :)

1.4.2 was only just released onto beta server (and it was only the previous story!)

if 1.5 is in beta, surely its on the server? Only OS4 is a closed beta I thought!

How do you think software comes into existance? You think it just
appears out of thin air?

Of course MOS1.5 is being developed somewhere, and of course those
developers have what is already done. What was demoed is of course a
work-in-progress version, not "MOS1.5 beta".
