After the announcement the MorphOS team made earlier this summer, now MorphOS.net turned back with its old, pre-Genesi-advent style. [Removed opinion part - Christophe]

Removed opinion part? There is one opinion left, why isn't the word 'scaring' removed as well?

They didn't say anything in public.
I think that Bill Buck speaking his mind on any idea that could help develop MorphOS/Pegasos create some expectations from the users that can not be met.
It does not go with the MorphOS team policy of complete silence until it is released.
Bill Buck is certainly speaking about these projects to see if he can gather some interest and get some projects started. However lack of solid financing is not helping to have these things completed.

gary_c,

No sense of humor these days? The post was just a little joke pointing out how quickly things can do a 180 around here these days. "I" wasn't 'claiming' those things were true, those were just the things that have been talked about ad nauseum around here during the last 2 years of mudslinging (from both parties). It would be amusing of similar things started happening again, but this time Genesi vs. MorphOS instead of Genesi vs Amiga.... Calm Down..

As more and more prominent members of this community (various well thought of webmasters etc..) start to feel the sames way about Buck as I do (and many already do) then maybe the wool will slowly be pulled from in front of your eyes. Buck is not a nice person.

The real question may be will the "Amiga" community (AmigaOS, MorphOS, and the other variants) be willing to put up with (and for how long) it's own Bill Gates(Buck) variant. Part of being 'Amiga' is getting away from the Gates mantra -- 'Take any technology that you happen to want at the moment in an immoral way and at any cost... lie, cheat, and steal to sell some product' type cr@p.

The Amiga 'community'...lol, people keep using that word like it has meaning...long destroyed by lack of leadsership, poor leadership and wooly thinking by the various owners of the name, yes even CBM helped a little 'back in the day.'

Don't go blaming all the crap today on two people (BB RV - although you have said nothing about RV as far as I know). For what it's worth, I believe the remnants of what people fondly refer to as the 'Amiga community' is as much responsible for tearing itself apart as the owners.

The Amiga 'community' needs some kind of fire running through it to weed out the dead wood and if it survives try and re-build something.

I believe this has already started. I mean there are two groups of dedicated people building in a direction...who knows if they'll meet in the middle or just wither and die on their own.

FWIW It's my belief (based on falling turnout at shows etc.) that it'll just die on it's own and squabbling and hate mongering is merely hastening that..at best it's standing in one place and jumping around a bit to give the appearance of motion.

The "Amiga community" has put up with Moss and McEwen for years. Hell, some morons still do. Surely Buck is no-news in this territory.

I aggree with what you say and you're right, can't just blame one person.

Regarding the part of your text that I quoted above, what I fear is that people are trying to rebuild around something (someone) that is already 'dead wood' as you put it. Setting the community up for failure yet again. Past track records can and often do predict future results when it comes to peoples personalities.

And if the manufacturer is the drug dealer? Sort of screws the 'fun' out of the experience.

But isn't that what the thread is all about? Genesi and MorphOS giving each other some space, showing that they seperate entities? I think the thread "starts" here. Ok, ok.. I'll leave it alone :)

gary_c,

No sense of humor these days?

Sure, I laugh my butt off at things that are actually funny. Ask my kids -- slapstick and Daffy Duck are some of my guilty pleasures. But you know when a 'joke' is focused on things that are highly contentious, people will react without laughing.

Calm Down..

When you've said some of the same things apparently without joking, I suppose it's hard to this time see it as a joke.

As more and more prominent members of this community (various well thought of webmasters etc..) start to feel the sames way about Buck as I do (and many already do) then maybe the wool will slowly be pulled from in front of your eyes.

Uh, Agima, I interact with Bill Buck fairly regularly, and have since Genesi and the Phoenix consortium got together over a year ago. I was in communication with Christian Kemp regarding the Genesi web servers, etc. while he was still trying to get information on them (Bill Buck referred him to me at a time when the Genesi web team was 'in transition', as the Phoenix site is on the same machine). I've been kept informed of and involved in other web-related and other issues and personnel. I don't think I need some anonymous "Agima's" opinion, based on a biased interpretation of *selected public information only*, to get a more complete view of all of this. Gimme a break. I see what you're saying and it fits into a piece of the spectrum of my awareness of Bill Buck and Genesi. But thanks for your concern.

Buck is not a nice person.

I'm quite aware of what has gone down in the public arena. I acknowledge that mistakes have been made, and I don't agree with some of things that have been said and done. But it takes a leap of logic to go from this to condemning an individual. Although I'm peripheral compared to the people who work with Genesi on a day-to-day basis, I'm confident I have a *much* more complete basis than you have to make assessments of Bill Buck's character. I understand why you might have the opinion you have, but I also understand why people thought for a long time that the world was flat.
