This applies accordingly also to all other projects e.g. OctaMed Soundstudio or XiPaint. Our emphasis will be thus logically AmigaOne and/or AmigaOS4. We regret it, however the past process does not lie in our hand. Nevertheless all MorphOS Usern for the future much fun with the system!

KMOS paid him to work on OS4 projects only! Eyetech gave him a FREE AmigaTeron. Hyperion gave him a FREE OS4 kit.

I see, so getting a free machine means you 'sell out' - is that it? I seem to recall a number of free machines coming from the Genesi side.. is that selling out too?

So Kmos/eyetech/Hyperion are accomplishing what Gensei set out to do, support the developers properly with some cash, free hardware and software?

Genesi not paying developers, despite an agreement... again...? What a suprise.

Or could it be the strategy of Bill Buck. At first he focussed on the Amiga community, but then the community, apart from some blue supporters, made him very clear that they don't want him. In the meantime he made some agreements with "strategic" Amiga developers.
Now his focus is on Linux and in order to get rid of the Amiga developers who he doesn't need anymore, he simply doesn't pay them.

I think that MorphOS users should be very nervous about the future of their beloved OS.

"KMOS paid him to work on OS4 projects only! Eyetech gave him a FREE AmigaTeron. Hyperion gave him a FREE OS4 kit."

That sentence is not in the original announcement and has presumably been invented by "GMT". IMO it is very unlikely to be true.

Mmh... so case looks like this: AmiAtlas developer had an AmigaOne and was porting AmiAtlas to A1 anyway. Genesi promised Pegasos board and AmiAtlas developer promised to port AmiAtlas to Pegasos (MorphOS). But because he never got Pegasos he is not going to port AmiAtlas to MorphOS. So... unless there was an exclusive MorphOS port deal or anything similar to that I dont see big fuss here... Only outcome is that there is no MorphOS native AmiAtlas port? As I see news item is trying to hint KMOS paid for an OS4 port, but as I see it is not true?

"Now, where's that PPaint update?"

PERSONAL PAINT 7.1 FOR AmigaOS 4.0

Seattle (January 6, 2004) - Amiga Inc. and Cloanto are delighted to announce that Personal Paint 7.1 will be available on the upcoming AmigaOS 4.0 operating system.

The Personal Paint series of 2D graphics and animations applications has been a mainstay of the application base for the Amiga platform ever since its introduction in 1992 and it is also a star attraction of the Cloanto Amiga Forever package. As Cloanto considers a new version of the product for AmigaOS 4.0, it has decided to show its commitment to the Amiga platform and community by making the source code of the current version available to Amiga Inc., allowing them to create a PowerPC native version for the upcoming AmigaOS 4.0 product. The created binaries will be owned by Cloanto but will be made available for free download from the Amiga and Cloanto web sites.

Cloanto and Amiga are also in talks concerning a new version of Amiga Forever, as well as a special version of Amiga Forever for AmigaOS 4.0, which aims to provide chipset-level Classic Amiga compatibility integrated with the new generation Amiga operating system and hardware.

I here it will be ready in two more weeks...

Genesi not paying developers, despite an agreement... again...? What a suprise.

Lame post by somebody trying to distort the information ... again? What a surprise. -- No pay is involved. The "contract" is said to be an agreement to get a free board as support for the application port, like the many boards give for free by Genesi to others.

Or could it be the strategy of Bill Buck. . . . Now his focus is on Linux and in order to get rid of the Amiga developers who he doesn't need anymore, he simply doesn't pay them.

Again, you demonstrate your confusion. Try to get clear on this. In any case, if the guy was waiting for a Pegasos, he should have signed up for Freescale's developer support program and gotten a complete Pegasos *system* that way. The offer was open for a couple of months and this developer would have qualified. If he didn't try this, it seems maybe he had already made up his mind about the MorphOS platform or maybe we haven't heard his real reasons. The Freescale offer was to developers for the Pegasos PowerPC platform, not limited to Linux.

I think that MorphOS users should be very nervous about the future of their beloved OS.

Based on this? Nah. The long wait for 1.5 is more irritating than the choice of one would-be developer.

Anyway, if AOS application developers are finally getting support via hardware donations, then they're finally getting what Genesi and now Freescale have been making available (albeit with exceptions/delays in some cases) for many months now. But as the delay in the AOS PageStream version shows (for example), there still doesn't seem to be a real hardware support program for Amiga developers outside of AOS beta testers. What was your point again?

As has been said before, the KMOS part was an invention of the person that posted the news item here. I don't know what happened there, but there is no proof that someone paid someone - it's pure speculation.

Hyperion does not manufacture hardware, and as such, we're not giving out free hardware. We do, however, have active developer support (including regular updates of the SDK with up-to-date compilers and tools).

> What was your point again?

What is yours? The poster didn't say anything about Hyperion, Eyetech or Amiga. It would be only natural, I guess, to concentrate on disproving the points he made. Your cheap slab at AmigaOS 4 was uncalled for, and only demonstrates your inability to argue in an orderly manner. All you can do is try to get the discussion away from (obviously very real) existing problems by trying to target the opposition again.

That's fine. But that apparently wasn't the issue with this developer. He's upset because he didn't get free Genesi hardware.

> What was your point again?

What is yours? The poster didn't say anything about Hyperion, Eyetech or Amiga. It would be only natural, I guess, to concentrate on disproving the points he made. I'm sorry you interpreted my words that way. The Amiga market was brought up by the person I was replying to, not by me. My point was that in fact Genesi and later Freescale have given *many* developers free boards or systems. As you can see, I *did* address the poster's point; I did not try to deflect the argument.

I realize that Hyperion doesn't manufacture hardware and so it can't give any to developers. I didn't say it's *Hyperion's* responsibility to do this, so don't respond defensively to an accusation I didn't make. However, Hyperion is building a platform in cooperation with partners, one of which *is* a hardware supplier, so *your partnership* theoretically could supply boards to key developers in the same way that Genesi has done independently and with Freescale's support. I mentioned Pagestream because I understand the AmigaOS4 version is delayed because the developer doesn't have an AmigaOne. This is a real problem, stated simply to show the problem exists for both platforms. I was only trying to respond to the poster's points and put this situation in context. No cheap slap was intended.

Very lame.

My points are valid, as far as I can tell.
