Dietmar Eilert writes on his homepage: "I regret to inform AmigaOS users that all software on this web site is now discontinued (due to lack of time on my side to continue with AmigaOS software development)." Intellectual property rights related to GoldED are now on sale whilst the Distributed BASIC interpreter will be released under GPL.

GoldED developer leaves the Amiga : Comment 22 of 27ANN.lu
Posted by .jon on 06-Apr-2002 01:47 GMT
i've bought GoldED in a very early Version and (1992/3???), and soon after
this D.E. writes he wants to move to the PC.
Making money as much is possible, nothing more.
Please enlighten me: How can "ten years later" be "soon" !?
About the other post "CED best editor for Amiga"
I do not understand this: CED might have been snappy and well layed out. But it had not a tenth of GoldED features.
I bought regulare GED keyfiles from Dietmar myself, starting with GED3 and never found any editor better on any OS (I use Emacs on Linux). The only alternative for me would be FrexxED, which is a brilliant piece of software itself.
It is a shame, FrexxED never got ported to Win or Lin.
GoldED sucked out of two reasons: No real TAB before GED 5 or 6 and Dietmar broke the APIs with every major release, rendering excellent and brilliant Add-Ins useless, some of his own (how nice was it to use DEBUG with other languages than C, it had an ARexx port to enable so) and how bad all the nice LaTeX parsers, scanners broke....
