More official screenshots from Hyperion are now available at the AmigaWorld.net community portal. These shots demonstrate the debugging capabilities under AmigaOS 4. Two programs are involved in this: The Grim Reaper and gdb.

Ok, we all agree that toggle, iconifying and window activation are all subject to individual preferences. So of course most functions like these should be configurable
at free will by the user.
But, a delicate balance must be maintained between "comes as standard" and
"has to be added by twenty or more commodities to load, each differing greatly in
code quality and feature set". This is about defining a new OS version in a
dying or already dead market! One can't leave the most simple gui standards to
commodities, just in order of getting other things done. We had that mess of tons of additional patches, twirks and commodities, just to tweak up the standard system,
for years now. Aren't we fed up? We want to get rid of it or minimize it.
If its handled by some standard OS preference panel, ok. But if not, this gives me an impression of carelessness. Especially since the missing zoom gadget always was a nagging
lack in old AOS, and therefore this should be one of the most obvious things to change.
But, according to the screenshots and HFs so far-comments here, nothing was done. |
