For the 21st of June there was an ' AmigaOS4 on Tour' event planned for Basel. I travelled from Holland to Switzerland to write a report for AmigaWorld.net regarding this event.

In reply to Comment 46 (Ben Hermans/Hyperion):
"Seems we were not the only ones with overoptimistic developers."

So now you blame the developers :(
The project manager IS the one to blame on project delays. You have a weird way of taking responsability of the project. I thought that the delays were due to contract work Hyperion did for other companies. Such contracted work is decided by the company manager and not by "overoptimistic developers".

There is a graphical GUI designer for Reaction I think. StormWizard IIRC, it was on the DevCD 2.1.
There is also a (separaate) one for MUI on Aminet.

Are you trying to say that the IDE interface on an AOne will still be a limiting factor, or will the code be changed before OS4 reaches the AOne? Or will there be a completely new driver for it?

Which is exactly what some people have been arguing here.

I'm sorry but I don't consider beta-versions to be commercial grade software.

This applies equally to OS 4.

BT1 like me had trance since september 2002 and it was at this time
really well running... So do not tell something when you don't know
what you're talking about... More over every one knows that vesalia
gave trance by error with the first pegasos they sold

Ok, but beta version of what...???
Of the JIT emulator ?? or the integration of the it???

It's not because one could still be beta that the other is still,
too....

In reply to Comment 40 (Don Cox):
EANs and UPCs can be created using a suitable vendor encoded font. Just because there isn't a 1:1 mapping between the product number and what you have to type on the keyboard to produce the barcode doesn't make it impossible, or even difficult.

You typically wind up typing something like 'W(c03489*NONSMm(W' and then a barcode with human readable annotation and proper spacing appears. The translation which is built in on decent DTP software just calculates those characters from an EAN or UPC number. If you're using some archaic Amiga software you can do the calculation yourself.

@ Cristophe, Fabio, David

There must be reasons why users were not given the JIT version even though it was sold to them. Right?

(and yes, I know Trance is years ahead of petunia in maturity)

IMHO is the time drop Petunia (it takes ages to make it really work [if ever]) and hire Bernie for any cost! Why? His products works (NOW not two years after deadline *you can see i am an optimist*) and are really fast!!!
I was (am???) on the OS4 side but the truth is that bbvr know much better what to do, who is the right person to get the ppc board for free and where to spend the money...

Sure, but Ben talked about the *integration* of Trance in MOS, not the *distribution* of Trance to the users. That is what I replied to.

Its not integrated in the enduser version. Better?
No difference to a non-betatester though.

In reply to Comment 66 (Ketzer):
While "integrating" it in this case means nothing else than "getting a copy of the file 'trance' and starting it at any time one wishes, be it in the startup-sequence or manually later". Again, we BT1 use it since last fall - and this is permanently, not just from time to time to test it with specific applications.

"Its not integrated in the enduser version. Better?"

So, your definition of "integrated" is the same as "distributed"?

Win2K? That's old hat now. Have you used WinXP on the desktop or Win2003 for the Server? I've never gotten any Blue Screens on WinXP and I've been running it since a month after it's release. As for Win2003 it runs great. Though I do run a small team of Admin's with close to 400 Win2K servers and we lose about 1 a year.

> Again, we BT1 use it since last fall...

...and again, it is not integrated into the product. What BT1 users are using is the *beta* of the *next* product.

It's about the same as claiming that SNAP *has* been integrated yet since they are near completion and testing it right now.

Open Source / Open Beta types frequently get fuzzy over this, so probably you're not even to blame...
