I would also like to add that the bug in the Articia S is far less severe than most people seem to think."

Could be about old Rev.

Simply check the dates of hermansens posts and when new articia revision was actually sampled.

Nice try anyway.

Maybe it would be more clear if Gelb would also post the sentence about the
firmware (The sentence after the famous "There is no Articia bug" statement)...

>Seriously do you beleive that a 1Ghz G4 Peg1/AmigaOne has the same memory >throughput as a 1Ghz Powermac G4 ?

until we have results to show what the bandwidth and throughput is
(and to compare, you'll have to run, eg Linux, on both systems as
different O's have different handling methods etc) then I can't
comment. oh, and *which* G4 PowerMac? there are many many of them.
I'd expect one of the new, and very expensive compared to Peg or A1,
G4 PowerMacs to be better....but thats why you pay the money if you
really NEED that particular performance upgrade.

The *only* *proof* i have, is that *my* AmigaOne shows no sign of a "heavily bugged" articia.

"expensive PowerMac G4 " ???

Don't know, but here in Germany Gravis is offering the basic G4 for
1299 Euro, and that is a single G4 at 1.25GHz including taxes, MacOS9 and
MacOSX, 256mb DDR-RAM, DVD/CDRW combo-drive,80gb HD, Radeon9000, FW,Modem,
keyboard,case and iLive-SW-bundle.

The A1-G4 is 880Euro(inc taxes) for the board alone, and that is only 800mhz.

Just a (100% OT) reality check, friendly delievered by the Kronosos-reality-Inc.

Yeah,
while PegasosII with G4@1Ghz or better will cost in September 599Euros inc.taxes!! 8-))
And remeber also about better specs in front of a Teron/AOne like DDR Ram, Gugabit Ethernet and a not bugged NBridge (...we hope! :-DD)

Care to supply proof that the northbridge in the A1XE is bugged?

Besides weren't you the guy who wet his pants a couple of months back on public
fora because his Pegasos hadn't turned up or something?

1.3Ghz G4 vs 1Ghz G3 is not 30% faster.

Processors don't necessarily linearily scale within their lines let alone across lines. My guess is the G4 is 10% faster in real world tests. Now if the Amiga had a recompile of FPU libraries to detect and use Altivec we may see some big improvements between the G3 vs G4 machines.

Hang on, I may be being a little slow here, but didn't Bill Buck say "No G4 for Pegasos due to buggy Articia"??

What's changed?
