and stability has passed my Amithlon and A4000T/060 system in every
respect with this release. A big Thanks to the MorphOS team! :)"

What processor is your Amithlon using?

That feature you are talking about can be found in AOS1.2, by using AmigaDOS commands status and break and it only works on running programs not crashed ones,
on OS4.0 they have fixed that, close window requester will automatically appearer if the program is doing any thing illegal, so you whit even to need to try close the window, the only event where program will not closed by the debugger is if the program has internal programing error that makes the program lockup inn some loop.

It be interesting to Se some speed test,
Amitalon JIT vs MorphOS JIT, then again finding the right CPU to compare with should you try finding the most equal preformed processor or the best preformed processor to compare, guess the both result will be cool anyway, then you have all bios seatings that can give or take preforms from the emulation, given that there are more native library's and OS resources on MorphOS, compared with AOS3.9 on Amitalon, bout system used tow sets of kernels, how fast Quark vs Linux kenrel is, how the core of emulation is, Amitalon more of Amigacomputer emulator is it not, while MorphOS is a API emulation / environment emulation / No hardware emulation thing.

I think the Amitalon should have 4:1 in performance louse
while MorphOS JIT should have 1.5:1 in performance louse
compeered to native, it should be cool to Se if I'm right.
while you are at it while not test MorphOS JIT vs MacOSX JIT.

Guess the new killer features of MorphsOS is the

S/PDIF output,
JIT emulation,
USB,
Warp3D support,
Taskmanager,

Sound like it's has become even more usable now.

Funny... People critisize MorphOS for lacking some features or something and
when they get implemented they practically ignore them.
So, full 32bit support in MUI is not a killer feature, right? We should stay

Athlon 1700+, clock speed 1.3 GHz. I have no idea what the RAM is - the motherboard is KT-7A.

So a very modest machine by this year's standards - bought it back when Amithlon came out.

Not to attack Genesi for the nice job they did...

BUT

anyone could tell me if they

AT LEAST

Fixed those annoying bugs into the "SAVE ILBM" feature into standard program menu due to (I think) to a lack into ILBM datatype?

It is a long time that Elena Novaretti complains about that bug...

It mangles almost every picture you save from a program if it uses standard ILBM Morphos datatype.

I noticed it by myself when visiting Milky'060 and I tested Pegasos and ZoneXplorer...

It is a major bug for a quite normal *TRUE* Amigaish usage of Pegasos and should be fixed...

Ciao,

Raffaele

133 MHz DDR-RAM probably. 1.3GHz sounds wrong for the 1700+. Anyway, I have a similar mainboard (MSI, DDR-RAM, VIA KT266A) and a slightly slower CPU, an AMD Thunderbird overclocked at real 1.5GHz. You probably have the Palomino core released after that. Speedwise, such an Amithlon system and a Pegasos are hardly apart. Same ballpark if you sit in front of it without a stopwatch. If speed and more speed is an overriding criterium, forget Pegasos 1. In your place, I would calmly wait. Opteron/Athlon64, Pegasos 2: Interesting things ahead, bad time to buy. Unless you are very interested in MorphOS and want to develop/sell software for it ASAP.

I where thinking about narrowing down to new features that are not planed or are none existent in AOS4.0 as of now as I know off, I Gauss I'm a bit annoyed by you all MOS users for having some thing new, Guess being bata tester where not my idea of fun, I can wait some more for better integration I guess, I'm not so worried about lacking some drivers and otter external components, even if they are cool.

well there are really only some features not planed for OS4.0 and that is S/PDIF output and the Task-manager, 32bit icons, that I can think off.

The JIT,USB,Warp3D are on the feature list how ever they are not implemented so far.

For example I opened a big (2560*2040*24) image (scannerized on a Acer Usb scanner :D) and applied the same Imp script on both Mos1.4 and Uae. These was the results (I used Windows clock):
Mos 1.4 --- 29 mins

For me is absurd to compare an emulator with a new operative system and a new machine, also because, in these terms, Hyperion and Eyetech can stop all thei work NOW due the fact that Os4 performances are just a "little" slower then Uae JIT on a 1GHz machine.

It would be absurd if the new operating system would give access to a whole new world of software. But it doesn't. In all fairness to MorphOS, I think questions about speed are perfectly valid. Also, don't forget that users considering an investment into a fast PC may be the future AROS users. AROS, I have been told, has picked up momentum during the last six months.

@ Kjetil

I know, it´s not the most important thing to write a proper perfect English if you´re not a native speaker. But PLEASE learn it a *little* bit.
For your assistance:

Se -> see
otter -> other
I where -> I was
Amitalon -> Amithlon

Nouns in plural are extended with an "s". Verbs in the third person are extended with an "s". For verbs there are particip forms that can be used. And so on. Just buy a little English course and learn a couple of hours.
I did it as well, as most here who are not antive speakers did. Otherwise communication is hardly near to become impossible.

regards

This page needs a major rework because, it is absolutely unclear what numbers mean (larger better? smaller better?). It is also unclear what criterium was used to sort the list. If some kind of formula was used, how were results weighted? And what does "68k math" mean? Is it floating point math or integer math? It would also be useful to check the HTML code, because much of the page shows up as white-on-white under IE with Webwasher. Finally, I just plain doubt that the results are meaningful. For example, according to the table, a different gfx card improves (are reduces?) the Intuition test result by a factor of five. Just doesn't sound right. Last but not least, results on nearly identical system vary wildly.
