>Hell, you just described a Pegasos running MorphOS! What are you
>waiting for?

Huh? For the software?

And any of that can be done on Windows (except for booting in one sip of coffee, but one can switch to tea and take longer sips ;-) ).

>> . . . All other options have been tried and failed.

>You could have added "up to the present" at the end there, but maybe you are a >really bitter person who's faith evaporated l-o-n-g ago?

>Those of us more advanced in personal years can allow for others making missteps, >and excursions down the wrong roads.

whatever.... but that mistep has traveled the same circle so much that its a deep trench and "doing it right" still has to work its way back out of that trench ...

Given the market changes.... the only way to deal with the overall situation is to open source the Amiga OS..... and that is NOT going to happen due to the numerious IP owners of various parts of the AmigaOS...

The reason MorphOS has any chance is that it is a free OS, though you have to buy the hardware to get it.. MorphOS is a OS default and given as an extra to buying the hardware.

More and more closed source proprietary software is carring an increasing amount of "red tape" legal issues that do infact impact the consumers freedoms...

Soooo. consumer choice is going the way of Vietnams desire to get into the WTO... They have to reduce MS software piracy....where all things considered lead them to the only forward move toward acceptance into the WTO......All machines manufactured in Vietnam have to come with Linux pre-installed..

I have no doubt there are those few (in comparison to the general public) that will believe whatever they want....but it just doesn't make it so.

FOSS simple comes with less cost, more support and less legal hassel, not to mention freedom to change or contribute....

i've just read it and i think that the "state of the art" of BS is this BB&RV statement (reported by Mr Hare in the interview):

"Together, Bill Buck and Raquel Velasco's ownership in Pegasos fell just a bit short. No problem, said Genesi, we're really the OEM. Genesi no more manufactures the Pegasos than does Vendome Investment Inc. of the Cayman Islands. OK, that's a bad example. Nobody manufactures much of anything in the Caymans. It's generally just a nice place to safely park financial assets. But, I wouldn't know anything about that."

eh, eh, eh . . . Pegasos manufactured in the Cayman!?!. . . really funny :-)

Have you tried stopping being on the internet altogether? It might do the world good.

oh gosh 360 plus comments, this Garry Hare thing must be the most exciting thing in a while.

Well you know what, it took me a long time to get sick of Amiga Tech, AI, Amiga, Inc. etc....ad naseum, but now I'm kind of sick of the Bill saga too, and whats worse, its not really the real Amiga anyway.....

so welcome KMOS, and I, for one, will be looking forward to the release of OS 4, and some lower cost PPC motherboards, and if some actual products are released, then maybe we can buy some.

Of course, if you don't release any product, not even your biggest fans can help you....

but I'm looking forward to some good news this year. I give it a chance.
as for the kmos uber secret partner, and hidden real mission of the company...yawn.

at least it looks like the partners might produce, soon.

I have plenty of software on my MOS box. Tell me, what do you want to do that you can't do with MorphOS?

Make a list of what you can do, the list for what you can't will probably be alot longer. You see, while MorphOS might have the same abilities or atleast close to the abilities of AmigaOS3.x with a few hacks'n patches, quite a few things has happened in the rest of the computer world. Try reading/writing any kind of MS Office dokument, try browsing websites that makes use of CSS or javascripts, try finding drivers for your new digital USB camera, try running a webserver with support for php and mysql, try installing the latest Macromedia MX, try running Photoshop, try do anything of the things I do every single day. You see, MorphOS nor any Amiga compatible would be able to do as much as 1% of the things that I must get accomplished with my computer every day, which makes it impossible for any Amiga compatible to replace nor compete with the PC or the Mac.

Anything remotely Amiga related is, and will be for quite some time, just a hobby. I'm realistic and don't expect anything useful nor anything I would need to come from the Amiga market within this decenium. For this reason, I will never buy any "alternative" Amiga. Why should I? I don't *need* an Amiga, I'm just interested in Amiga computers in the sense that it is my hobby. Asking me to get an alternative is pretty futile since it would be like asking a Ford enthusiast to get the latest Volvo because it's both cheaper and better than the old T-Ford.

Use Amiga OS? :-P
No really, why should any user bother with an alternate platform if it isnt at least partially a hobby - and that hobby is Amiga OS for many of us wether you like it or not.
