Because of very heavy lightning i Aalborg, Denmark the entire sunsite.dk machine is down.
This afternoon there came a rainstorm over the northern parts of Denmark. Because of
that, the entire sunsite.dk site went down. That means that the mailindlists and the
webpage are down for the time beeing.
Unfortunately the UPS did not do it's job and the PSU in the server blew out. Sun has
been contacted and they will bring a replacement PSU later this week (in a few days or
so).
If you'd like to see how and where the lightning struck between 15:00 and 18:00 you can
take a look at this
picture from the Danish Meteorological Institute..
On behaf of the entire AWeb team,
Jens Dueholm Christensen <jens@amigadk.dk>

AWeb homepage/maillists are down : Comment 3 of 15 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Peter Eriksson on 18-Jun-2002 19:31 GMT | Jens, two interests of mine are Amiga computer systems and meteorlogy so I really appreciate this update (including the reference to the map showing where lightning has struck)!
Although the news on Swedish TV4 didn't mention anything about the status of sunsite.dk, they did however show the aftermath of the rainstorm ploughing thru the north of Denmark (even spawning a few tornados along the way! Tornados in Europe are very rare, so this is quite spectacular!)
As I write this (tuesday, 23:30 CET) the weather system is currently situated over the southern part of Sweden, advancing to the north. At this point, it should still produce thunderstorms, however they may diminish in numbers as the system weakens. Hopefully, it'll still be active by the time it reaches my home town of Umeå, Sweden (if it gets here).
Again Jens, thanks for the update! |
