The Register says that Sendo junks MS smartphone and joins Nokia camp. Sendo, the UK handset maker was supposed to launch its Z100 MS 'Stinger' handset this month into Spain and Italy. Sendo today announced that it's stopping all development on the Windows for Smartphone 2002 platform. It is instead signing a licence for Series 60, the Nokia smartphone platform erected upon the Symbian OS. I guess this means no Amiga Anywhere for Sendo phones.

I disagree.
You are right when you say things have different specs and you will have problems. The sound example you provided: PCM vs FM Synth would not have compatible ground. So in this case playing a sample on the FM Synth would produce no sound at all... But if the hardware could cope then it would.
Businesses could benefit a great deal from a run-once program. Transfering an app on you office machine to your PDA/phone and vice-versa could really open things up and allow a good set of apps which can be used anywhere without software modifications.
I think it's a good concept that needs to be expanded and worked upon. |
