MorphOS user and advocate Daniel Miller wrote an AmiWest show report for the amiga-news.de website. Here are some maybe surprizing quotes: "Other guys fom the Genesi team were running back and forth to get CDs or check things or fleeing for their lives or who knows what. In all it was less than professional and it's a good thing they presented early in the day so there weren't more people present to witness all the problems." and "The OS4 demo on Saturday: this was a wonderfully executed presentation.". Read all about it here and here.

Daniel Miller's Amiwest 2003 Show Report : Comment 14 of 32 | ANN.lu |

Well, maybe not, actually. Keep in mind that of these speakers, maybe only Bill Buck is in the habit of public speaking, and of course greenboy's pretty much at ease with it because he's said his spiel more than a few times, and has his on-stage experience as a musician. The other guys had problems with things not working, as well as not being prepared since they all had higher priorities in the days and hours up til showtime. As Bill Buck said at the end of the session, the operation in America is just getting off the ground; give them a year and see how far they'll have gone.
That said, I agree that much of the presentation was painful to hear. I had to fast-forward cringing through some of the rougher bits of the mp3 myself. I imagine there was a fairly intense post-show meeting since there are several more shows coming up in the next few months. Sorry if it sounds like I'm making excuses, and I know I'm apt to get the apologist award, but it's good to keep things in context.
> AmigaOS presentations, good, clear and solid.
They've had quite a bit of practice, haven't they? Well, they are quite good at the presentation end of it, no question. I think the written documents on AOS4 are also very good quality, and the Italian sponsors of the World Tour, maybe in particular, put together some real nice packaging with printed discs and all.
> so, although MorphOS 1.4 beta OS is available, its behind in the 'trust these
people with your money' game.
So if you base your operating system purchases on slickness of presentations at shows, I guess you use MacOS and QNX exclusively, right? ;-) . If I thought there was a direct correlation between geeks' performance behind mikes and the code on the discs, I'd agree, but there seem to be other variables. ;-)
