He also wrote as has already been stated, that he's still looking for people who will develop commercial-quality software for the PDA's. More details at Amiga.org here."

I like the idea of Amiga branching into new products, but is this really going to make a lot of money? Is there really any more room for a new PDA? I would consider a few points:
1. Palm series - Still #1 and no real signs of slowing.
2. Handspring - Basically the "cool" Palm. Has a fair amount of market share.
3. Assorted WinCE machines - I've heard that the Compaq iPAQ is a huge seller and could threaten the Palm. Who knows, but I doubt that.
4. The Cassiopea - Knocks out the low end on PDA's (not that I would expect the Amiga based PDA to be low end, but still)
5. The Cybiko - Don't discount this guy. Wireless radio based communicating PDA marketed towards teenagers. More advertising (and a color version) and the kids/gaming market could be locked up by this thing. Sorry Gamboy 2.
6. The Psion handhelds. They remind me of the old Poqet computers, only better. AFAIK, Psion pretty much owns the "More than just a PDA, but not quite a sub-laptop" market.
7. The Newton - Steve Jobs is a moron for ending production of this machine. Not that it matters, I just wanted to mention that! :)
In automotive terms, when SUV's are selling, you don't want a car lot full of compact sedans. And PDA's are definitely selling. But in my opinion, this had better be a better product than is available and/or at a better price or whoever is making this thing is wasting their time and money.
It will be interesting to see who this new PDA gets pitched to.
My $.02 anyway,
Kevin
