He also wrote as has already been stated, that he's still looking for people who will develop commercial-quality software for the PDA's.
More details at Amiga.org here."

Amiga: two AmigaDE based PDA's : Comment 3 of 13 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Hagge on 10-Mar-2001 23:00 GMT | In reply to Comment 2 (Kevin Smith): Well, I think the palm is boring, even if it's the most used one. And who cares to get the one "everyone else has"? Does it matter on a PDA? Sure, Palm makes a fine calendar(spelling) or phonebook, but it's bORING =)
I don't know so much about the other, I suppose M$ PocketPC products will be used often, because they can run the same software(i suppose). There are also a few companys who makes PDAs with linux, don't know why you would want a lightwight-serveros in a PDA...
And I think the AmigaPDAs was lowend, they just had 500kB memory for programs...(or, the apps shouldn't use more, i suppose there are some for storage to). I think Merlancias PDA(not that i would call an handheld computer for 1500$ a PDA.. anyway) will be more "highend".
So, why should ppl get an AmigaPDA? Simple, then AmigaDE is released, it will work on a large number of platforms. And the same binarys can run everythere, which means all AmigaPDAs can run the same programs, so you will have lots of stuff to run on it. And if there's something you're missing, you can easily code it yourself on your desktop...
Just a thought... |
