The AmigaOS 4.0 Powerpoint presentation that was displayed in Montlaur on saturday the 5th is now available.
This document was displayed to the amigans in Montlaur, France last saturday. It is a snapshot of the work in progress on AmigaOS 4.0.
We hope this will help you understand what was realised, and what still needs to be done.
Please note that the list of PPC modules is growing everyday (and I mean everyday : This morning we received icon.library).
The file is available as a PowerPoint presentation (original file), a PDF file, and a set of JPEG images.
This is a french document, so please feel free to translate it.

What, with grainy 32 color icons and gradients and textures covering every free space, and a random mixture of fonts and colors, and a brown gradient behind dialogs? You have to be design-impaired to like this mix (or the MOS look, which has its share of gruesome UI design, too, such as transparent menus).
These screen shots are better than what was displayed before: no fake wood, thank god, and plain blue window borders. If they continue on the less-is-more route, ban fake metal and other textures for good, drastically limit gradients, and, generally speaking, keep things simple, bitches like me might like it, too.

What do you bitch about grainy 32 colors icons, you don't even like colors,
LOL.
guess you can customize every thing just like you like to, on OS4.0 and MorphOS if you like to, just remove the textures it upp to you,
As for the OS4.0 design there are tree key point way it look like it is:
1:
If you use lots of colors the you will have problem displaying the desktop in 256 colors with out displaying some thing really ugly.
2:
The desktop should be retro so users can reorganize the OS and computer.
3:
Not all users like large textures and fill up the ram space, the less memory used the less page-swapping inn & out of the swap-partisan. |
