They were doing contract work for a customer of Mai, IIRC

.. and that would explicitly be for the AmigaOne (that's why AmigaOS was working
on the AmigaOne end summer). KMOS only bought the OS in October, I'm not to sure
that Hyperion would do anything in advance.

The PPC is a processor built into mobiles, PDA sized devices, network and
communication hardware and desktops (-> "cross platform", too). Could well be
that Hyperion 'only' made AmigaOS to work on another PPC processor, fe. IBM's
406 platform (a highly integrated embedded processor).

Most probably he is simply referring to the HAL which Hyperion said they could
port to other platforms in just a few weeks/months, at least one of the same
endianess. But a Hardware Abstraction Layer by definition is a basic "tool" to
provide "cross platform" capability. |
