New Executive Update : Comment 7 of 128 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Kent on 24-Jun-2002 04:01 GMT | For Amiga Inc's sake I hope that nobody outside of "The Community" will read these ridiculous updates.
"You have all been patient, more than understanding, and have dealt with more misinformation, disinformation and rumors than any one group of people should, ever."
Yeah, we know, we all read your website and the garbage and conjecture you and your "partners" are spreading. How about either shutting up or telling the truth sometimes?
"One request: If you find this information as positive as we do, share it with someone."
Do your own damn marketing, unless you pay me of course.
"REAL opportunities will soon be here for all of us in the Amiga Community."
You are not part of us, the "community". We are your customers.
"we decide on a number of units to build and then we see, from web hits and direct inquiries, that there are 5 times as many people who are interested in the AmigaOne than we knew were out there. You can file that under "Beyond Our Expectations"."
No, that is filed under "so many unique HTTP requests were made from people who wanted to see screenshots of some OS4 components running under 68k". It has fuck all to do with a POP motherboard. Also, it's up to Eyetech to decide how many of those mobos they'll order.
"We are really pleased that the hardware is out there, and that the Amiga community is going to have the first new hardware designed for them, with their own operating system, in a long, long time."
Stop with the obvious lies at least, please. The people who designed those POP mobos have probably never heard of AmigaOS.
*I* don't want any hardware designed for me. *You* don't make any hardware designed for me. So far, so good! Now sell me your OS.
"the features and benefits that you have told us that you, The Community, want in a new Amiga."
Oh shut up. If Intel, Motorola, Sony or nVidia bought the Amiga trademark, then maybe "a new Amiga" would be a feasible idea. That hasn't happened, and we all know there will be no new Amigas. We don't want any, unless there's a BIG enough company backing up development and sales. Stop fucking pretending.
"the Amiga Anywhere Content Engine."
Yeah, introduce another meaningless designation with the "content" buzzword. That'll help your explanation. Why not just say "we renamed the 'AmigaDE-Player'"?
"However it allowed us to show to our board and our investors that we should pursue building a new Amiga computer."
WILL YOU F*CKING STOP IT ALREADY!?
"We need to properly plan, budget, and order for the production of the AmigaOne."
No, you don't. Hardware is the job of your licencees, remember? Or are you suggesting that the currently sole licensee will - *gasp* - always be the sole licensee? What a surprise! Not.
The numbers of current and potential Amiga users are nothing but bizarre. 30000 subscribers of "Amiga related" magazines? Is MacWorld "Amiga related" because they mention 68k and PPC CPUs?
"OK one more - hit 50,000 orders Amiga will give away 100 systems, 100 Amiga Enabled Cell Phones 3 trips for 2 to either Hawaii or Florida."
"The Cell phones, and the Amiga systems will be shipped as soon as they are available."
ROTFL. Seriously. This is the funniest thing I've read in a LONG while. It's like something on SA.
The expression "The Community" is being used as if we're the property of AI. From the Amithlon update: "we have had to deal with companies who would like nothing better than to split the Amiga community". Yeah well, tough luck Bill, but Gateway didn't sell us, our different needs and different wishes to you. The individuals of "The Community"(TM) have nothing more in common than that we're using AmigaOS. Don't make any assumptions and generalizations beyond that. |
