Pegasos UK goes Live! : Comment 13 of 38 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Olly on 03-Dec-2002 22:31 GMT | In reply to Comment 7 (strobe): <i>"Any of you complainers actually having a problem using the site, or are you just running web pages through validators to satisfy your inferiority complexes. "</i>
You can't claim that your site "has been designed to work in any available browser", and then present us with invalid code. Its clearly not going to work in any old browser is it?
I dont see this as a "my websites better than yours" issue. Its an accessibility issue (OK, they've used alt tags, i commend that, but alt="logo"? Whats that going to mean to a text browser or screen reader? bugger all...).
Its a standardisation issue. Web developers have gotten away with writing non standard code for long enough. Thats why Opera, IBrowse and the like have to use stupid spoofing tricks/hacks to work with badly coded pages. Thats not the way it should be.
By the way, http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pegasos-uk.com%2Fenglish%2Fmenu_main.html throws up a fatal error before its even got started.
Anyway, enough of this rant. http://www.webstandards.org for more... |
