The "I Am Amiga" promotion has ended! : Comment 93 of 134 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Hagge on 27-Jul-2002 13:10 GMT | In reply to Comment 90 (Don Cox): >Even OS 3.9 isn't the same OS as we had in 1992, which was 2.0 IIRC.
Uhm, wasn't A4000 and A1200 released 1992? or was that 1994?
I think there isn't any great difference between 3.0, 3.1, 3.5 and 3.9. Isn't the only things added stuff you could already get in 3.0? Like that dockmenu, newicons, a tcp/ip stack? Anything more? Not any major futures. Yes, that cdrom filesystem support to. So two major futures between 3.1 and 3.9 then... cdrom fs support and tcp/ip..
>OS 4.0 will have substantial changes from 3.1. I don't think it's

>It's very modular, and parts can be added and updated as needed.

no, and there are no reason to turn amigaos into unix... amigaos is fine as it's. But i only use unix so to me it doesn't matter if my os is unix or not, it won't disturb me anyway.
AmigaOS4 probably needs some NEW functions which has never been seen before if Amiga Inc wants more users. vm and memory protection is good, but "all" other oses already have them to.
>Many things like support for Truetype fonts which have been available

To bad many of you misunderstand me and thinks i do hate the amiga, which i don't. I hope everything turns out fine for amiga, but i really doubt it.
And i appologise to the ppl which thinks i'm a mac users which just puts all his bs in here, i've never used a mac since 9th grade which was 8years ago or something, and i didn't liked them as much as AmigaOS3.0 then... they where better for my schoolwork than our i486 with Windows3.11 thought.... |
