Amigaworld.net is currently down due to hard drive failure.
Everything possible is being done to return the site to normal, however we are unable to give an ETA at this time.
In the meantime, the Amigaworld IRC network continues to function via the remaining US and European Amigaworld Servers
They are:-
UK.Amigaworld.Net
US2.Amigaworld.Net
NO.Amigaworld.Net
Updates will continue to be posted here as and when we know.

Amigaworld.net down : Comment 125 of 281 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Anonymous on 03-Sep-2004 13:20 GMT | In reply to Comment 116 (Fabio Alemagna): I never stated that the "other side" was any better. Both sides contain people that like to say things they can't fully backup, but that are hard to disprove completely. Openly exclaiming that people always get moderated for not approving with the views of Hyperion, Eyetech or Amiga Inc. is just nonsense.
This would be like me judging every person on ANN and every thread that appeared as propaganda, for something Bill Buck said at some point, that I personally thought was nonsense (hypothetical here) in some thread, taken out of context, and without any other commentary on the subject.
Moderation on amigaworld.net, which seems to be a very hot subject for some people that want to "enlighten all the misinformed sheep", goes mainly to try to prevent 200 post threads containing personal insults, unprovable absolutes and flaming, something that many amigaworld.net readers are sick and tired off. Sometimes that doesn't work and people get wrongfully moderated, such is life.
Fact is, a whole lot of people come over to amigaworld.net as some sort of joke or for personal amusement, trying to start flame wars, post something that is wildly out there, then go and cry on moobunny or on ANN that the amigaworld.net moderation staff are equivalent of Hitler himself.
Don't judge an entire website and all its users based on something some one person said, or from isolated instances that are taken out of context.
Someone not agreeing with you, does not make them an idiot. Someone not sharing your opinons, does not make him an idiot either.
It's about time this whole black and white, red and blue thing stopped. We need software, not flamewars. |
