Pegasos G3 600 Mainboard 650 Euros : Comment 156 of 202 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Amigans in black on 24-Mar-2002 08:20 GMT | In reply to Comment 153 (Ian Shurmer): What you need to understand, and unfortunately this is hard to reveal because it was well hidden, but one day who know... is that Morphos was to be the official AmigaOS.
But some people decided it was not good that the future of the OS and the hardware were in the hands of Ralph Schmidt and his team. These same people convinced with foolish arguments Amiga Inc. that they shouldn't work with them.
And the incredible happened : though bPlan has a hardware and a software nearly completed, Amiga Inc signed with another company which has so far quasi nothing on OS 4. Not even a booting and functionnal kernal whereas bPLan has Quark running for many months.
What must be understood (but isn't because of OS 4/AmigaOne propaganda) is that once again the community will have to wait until at least next october to see a barely working version of OS4, while Morphos is 95% finished today.
The people I mentionned above managed to create two camps, where bPlan are evil and the other are the holy good ones. They even convinced Amiga Inc. that Morphos has a hobbyist team, whereas the AmigaOs 4 has only one full time people, the rest being free time contractor workers.
And the most important thing, these people managed to make the community believe that the OS 4 and Aone will come quickly together, what is an absolute lie.
We actually fear that the Pegasos and Morphos come but with no success. Because people will wait for the official thing that will take MONTHS to come. And more people will leave the Amiga boat because of despair, more people will concentrate on Pc or Mac and will abandon the Amiga.
In the end this could lead to the real death of the Amiga whereas a good solution exist but is neglected because it is not (magic word) OFFICIAL.
Between something official that will take months and months to come, and something not official but existing and about to be released : what is the best choice ?
Believe us, no AmigaOS 4 in May, nor in June, nor this summer on the Aone. Maybe a workable but not final version in September but for CSPPC. Remember these people announced last december that there would be a first fonctionnal version of OS 4 in february. We're end of march and we know there's nothing.
Of course, a lot of people won't believe us. We know that. But no one can't prevent us from telling the truth, and the future events will prove we were right.
First rendez vous in May, with no OS 4 for those who have pre-ordered an AmigaOne... |
