Next Pegasos production sold out : Comment 272 of 280 | ANN.lu |
Posted by 3seas on 12-Jun-2002 11:35 GMT | A non-os specific hardware developer having to deal with public generated software related FUD.
vs.
A software company insisting on incorporating hardware based OS execution constraints.
vs.
UAE, Amithlon, and some other emulator I don't quite recall the name of - AmigaXP?
vs.
AROS and Morphos which are Amiga OS work enough alikes that porting existing Amiga software
over to is made easier.
vs.
project GNU including it's slight deviation, yet still project GNU productive, linux kernel based version.
(having approximately 6000 gpl based packages available and usable thru the linux kernel even before the
official GNU core is officially publicly released)
It'll be interesting to see how the "Amiga" scene changes upon availability of the Hurd, and it's source code.
And that includes the effect it has on Tao Amiga Whatever success/failure level.
Oh yeah, forgot MS and Apple....... actually I didn't, as MS is giving itself a slow death and Apple is a *nix convert.
Seems Amiga can't keep out the competition any more than ....... Well MS got caught, didn't they?
Considering the Above, would a hardware developer really want to limit the possibilities of the use of their hardware?
Lets toss in "distributed computing" and how it helps to be compatable to some degree on the hardware level.
Q: Bill, what is being done to limit success potential?
I reserve the right to be skeptical, allways. |
