I am currently being threatened by my former employer (they are "compelled [to] take action against [me]") for the way I am running ANN, and how this allegedly violates my employment contract with them ("interfere _in any manner_ with any business relationship between the Company and any of its customers or business partners"). This might entail drastic changes to the relative freedom of speech ANN has always allowed its visitors, or ANN might close down altogether. Updated 10:00 CET.

Legal threats? : Comment 636 of 1057 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Ray A. Akey on 08-Apr-2004 02:34 GMT | In reply to Comment 565 (Christophe Decanini): "Well, going on #morphos, arguing forever in a very offensive way and asking developers to stop coding for MorphOS/ Pegasos was the best way to get kick banned."
Oh come on. It's not like they aren't as paranoid as pot smokers on a 3 day binge high.
When I went into #morphos channel "way back when" was I:
1. "arguing forever"? NO.
2. "very offensive"? NO.
3. Asking developers to "stop coding for MorphOS" ? NO.
I joined the channel AS A DEVELOPER to find out if my project (AmiFTPd) worked under MorphOS. I was courteous (ask the "Golem" if you don't believe me), I was friendly and I was certainly not offensive, even though I was greeted with stupid attempts to insult me because I worked for Amiga, Inc.
I was asked to leave by Ralph Schmidt only because he didn't want a "mole" in the channel.
So, let's not pretend that the #morphos channel is a paradise where group hugs are abundant.
I hear all this nonsense about AmigaWorld and their IRC channel, but let's face it.. for a portal and channel that is "full of AmigaInc zealots," we sure do get along quite well with many of those "MorphOS zealots" that join the channel.
If only #morphos could make the same claim. |
